Glee actor Chris Colfer has revealed he was bullied every day at school for being gay.

Speaking to men’s fashion website Mr Porter, Colfer said he didn’t tell his parents about the harassment because his sister had a severe form of epilepsy and he didn’t want to trouble them with his own problems.

According to MailOnline.com, the 22-year-old said: “I was harassed at school every day, called ‘faggot’, I had things taped to my back.”

Colfer, who plays Kurt Hummel in Glee, said he turned to writing and television as a form of escapism.

He said: “For most of my adolescence I was in my bedroom writing or watching things I shouldn’t be watching on TV, like Nip/Tuck.

“And I was obsessed with superheroes. I had this thing where I wanted to be rescued. The other kids wanted to be Superman, but I thought Lois Lane kind of had the best deal.”

The star has already written one children’s book, The Land of Stories, and has begun work on a sequel. He has also written, produced and appeared in a movie, Struck By Lightning.

He added: “And I’ve written another movie, this time definitely R-rated about a 1930s asylum. Oh, and my agent asked me to adapt this children’s book into a feature for Disney. I wrote that one in a weekend. Yeah – a 90-page screenplay in two days. It was insane.”
