  1. “Household Membership”? Is that some pathetic stab at keeping it a bit different so they don’t have to show approval of gay families? Sad and ignorant.

    1. But it will instead allow people to let their house share friends to join under the “household” membership. O well if they really want to lose money through abuse let them get on with it.

They still don’t let gay family members join as a family. In fact it was so important for them to not recognize gay families that they now don’t recognize ANY families. They now only recognize “household members”.

Better that they should turn all families into flatmates/roommates than to recognize a gay family and treat them with respect.

Why do minorities (gay) choose to live in such fascist (christian) states, then act surprised when the reality hits them?!

  4. They buckled very quickly. So what was the point in the first place?

They didn’t buckle. The simply side-stepped the argument by redefining the rules. They are still refusing to recognise gay families.

  5. Sounds like civil partnerships and marriages again.

  6. “… he, his male partner and their two-year-old son were not considered a family…”

To say that this is family is to express madness! The funniest part is “their” son. We are indeed living in crazy times calling an airplane a spade.

doesn’t most of their membership come from our community (we can be rather “looks” oriented)?

    bad move I think!!

Am I the only one who is quite happy with using “household membership” instead of “family membership”? Families come in all shapes and sizes, and the more open your terminology, the less likely you are to exclude anyone. I live with my partner, and I don’t call us “a family” as we don’t have children. But “household membership” would cover us beautifully.
