Police in Portland, Texas, have released a sketch of a suspect wanted for the shooting of a teenage lesbian couple in a park last month.

Mollie Olgin, 19, was shot dead while her girlfriend, Mary Christine Chapa, 18, remains in hospital after being shot in the head.

It is not clear if their sexual orientation was a motive for the attacks.

The sketch is of a white man in his twenties with brown hair and a “skinny” build.

The couple were found on Saturday June 23rd with gunshot wounds. According to local press, shots or firecrackers were heard the night before but were not reported.

No weapon has been found and Ms Chapa remains too ill to be formally interviewed by police.

Friends of the couple said they had been in a relationship for five months.

Ms Chapa’s family is planning a fundraising benefit on August 5th to help pay for her medical care.
