Fantastic to hear of grassroots movement in N Ireland on equal marriage.
I hope they can find a supportive MLA to bring foward the issue – I think N Ireland may well need this issue to be forced into the public domain and for the debate to be had.
I suspect, unfortunately, it would not succeed initially in N Ireland. However, when the rest of the UK and the republic of Ireland bring forward equality AND the debate has already started in N Ireland THEN more moral pressure can be put on those in Stormont to do the right thing.
It needs to be publicised though and a debate needs to be seen to start and be active.

If they find support it will come from Sinn Fein. The Nationalists know this issue is key to capturing the hearts and minds of the post-Good Friday generation. The DUP won’t shift because all they are just hypocrites whose main thoughts are about all the backhanders they take and how to hide them, and the other parties have all been pushed into irrelevance by the sectarian divide moving into the political arena.
Soooo, it’s just to the likes of Gerry Adams to push this forwards. Funny old world eh?
We already have civil marriages in the U.K. Is that not enough for the Gay community in Northern Ireland? Why are they trying to overturn and erode hundreds of years of traditional heterosexual marriages just to suit their own ends? They should be satisfied with what they have.

It was Sinn Féin with SDLP support that saw Belfast become the first council in Ireland be back marriage equality on Monday night.
