Puts us to shame! Damn the opposition! We’re handling this in a very long-winded, drawn-out unnecessary way. It’s absolutely shameful.

I bet our Pride won’t be as vocal and it won’t be to commitment to equal marriage either. Well done, Paris and well done, France!

  4. Here’s a city and a LGBT community that puts words into action. 700,000! Wow, while London Pride is falling apart for reasons i still don’t fully understand!

  5. I was there, my choir Gay Abandon had been invited by Podium Paris to join them on the first float and then in a concert on the Sunday.

I wasn’t at all sure about going. I gave up on the “national” (=London queen) pride years ago, and my local Leeds one veers between being family friendly and something from Hogarth’s Gin Alley.

But Paris Pride managed to be stylish, chic, noisy, colourful AND political. Not swamped by brands (seemed to be mostly funded by everybody passing through a collection point), it reminded me of the good old days when walkers and spectators made a bit of an effort with their own little posse; but with the difference that people smiled. It pissed over anything I’ve ever seen in this country, and I’m a GLF veteran.
