£150 each! Well that puts it beyond the people whose interests it is meant to be discussing.

The Comonwealth! That old dead horse. British Victorian Laws are what is being used to repress most LGBTQ people within the former Colonies.

Whilst I welcome any attempts to improve the lives of our brothers and sister else where n the Globe. I am suspicious of such a narrow remit as The Comonwealth.

Sounds like another good money spinner.

  2. I am so sick of the arguement that Britain’s colonial laws regardinfg homosexuality are to blame for the murderous savagery of so many Commonwealth countries when it comes to homosexuiality.

Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, India are also former colonies, yet all managed to overturn the colonial era laws.

The responsibility for the maintenance of these savage laws lies squarely with the countries who maintain them.

And all aid and trade with such countries needs to be halted until they decide to behave like civilised places when it comes to sexual minorities.

Australia can hardly be put up as an example to be followed. Their latest drift away from LGBT equality efforts is utterly shameful. I guess with Gillard’s so-called leftist party declaring itself anti-LGBT it gives carte blanche to the right-wing to be as nasty as they like.

So how about the likes of New Zealand, Canada, the UK, South Africa, and India spend day one of this conference lecturing Australia, then move onto the other states?

      1. Australia’s latest shenanigans are indeed utterly shameful but you cannot seriously compare Australia to the murderous savagery of most Commonwealth countrie -the likes of Uganda etc.

    2. Instead of berating the governments in charge of these Commonwealth nations, how about channelling that anger towards helping the many LGBT people who need our support? This could help so much more than merely threatening them with sanctions or cutting aid.

      1. I agree that we should continue funding NGO’s which respect human rights in these countries.

But all aid and trade with the governments of these countries needs to cease immediately.

  3. Oh and it’s time to scrap the Commonwealth – what purpose does that serve now that Britain no longer has an empire?

  4. £150 to attend a Pride London event. Why does that not suprise me??
