Well done Stonewall! But when are you going to acknowledge and embrace some of the unsung ‘front liners’ in our community and invite them to your events along with the celebs? Someone like Stephen Bourne in the London Borough of Southwark who, in 1995, was intsrumental in setting up the first locally-based LGBT Forum with the Met police and his local authority to combat homophobic crime. Stephen (a volunteer) and the Forum are still going strong after 17 years and he is highly respected by the Met police yet he has never been recognised by the LGBT community. A very worthy and noble cause and good that a significant amount of money was raised.

Now, how about multi-tasking and taking on the bigots who recently circulated those anti-equal marriage leaflets and spurious claims about polygamy and incest as a result of introducing marriage equality?

    Good done Stonewall.

Let’s hope it makes a difference when put into good use. Clearly more needs to be done and raised but always a worthy cause.

  4. Funding the educating of bullying, homophobic or otherwise, OUT of Schools IS vitally important.
However even MORE remains to be done within the horrifically homophobic prison system.
Whatever their crime, prisoners’ punishment is the deprivation of liberty, NOT being available targets for homophobic abuse – and worse – from fellow inmates and staff alike.
Is it known whether Stonewall are looking into this manifestation of homophobia?

  5. “Catherine Bosworth, Stonewall Director of Fundraising, said: “Thanks to our supporters at Société Générale every penny raised on Friday will help us make a real difference to thousands of lesbian, gay and bisexual young people around Britain.”

    But then the article says:

“Part of the proceeds from Summer Party on the Roof will be donated to Stonewall.”

So which one is it, either is the entire £51,000 or its part of the £51,000.

I am guessing the latter, as some of it will be invested to create funds to pay the staff, just like at the Red Nose Day rip of saga.

  6. Dr Jessen is going out with Chico?

Go on Stonewall, the all-too real victims of inequality and horrific bullying need you and you can take the Christian Institute and co!

  7. Nice Going Stonewall !!! Thank you for all the work you are doing and thank you to, to Dr Christian Jesson and his partner for hosting the event.

Well done Stonewall!. I’m sure gays and lesbians will benefit. We (the transgendered) will continue being bullied because you won’t support us.
