  1. Ummmm. Garish. Tacky. Tasteless. And under the label of ‘art’ overpriced. The only thing more ‘stereo typical’ might have been a similar sized sequinned pink jockstrap!!!

It does make a good alternative to a Spearmint Rhino!

  3. This is god value for money as public art goes. There is robust and incontrovertible evidence that public art acts as an investment to support and benefit the local economy. It also helps to create a vibe and give an area character.

Yet more reinforcement of the gay stereotype we don’t need.
The money spent on this should have gone to anti-homophobia initiatives instead.

Back in the 80′s the AIDS ad’s warned about dying of ignorance, and in an odd kind of way ignorance is the biggest problem for LGBT people. People need to know and what we are, and equally what we are not. It is ignorance that is the biggest cause of homophobia, and people need to be educated and enlightened.

PLEASE DO NOT REPLY TO HOMOPHOBIC POSTS.

Replying to trolls encourages their obsessive behaviour. When ignored, their posting can become increasingly desperate and silly: see the effete and solipsistic “Inspector General” at http://www.pinknews.co.uk/?comments_popup=29048 .

Their posts reflect their own “stuff”: abusive parents, religiously-induced guilt, feelings of social inadequacy, loneliness, human neglect, sexual resentment, repressed homosexuality, or who knows what. They are damaged. We would be, too, if we had their sad history. People normally don’t feel ok about others when they don’t feel ok about themselves.

The self-hating trolls need to be away from their PC and bottle of whisky, instead seeking the compassionate human contact of which they have been deprived.

Some of their language inadvertently betrays more than a mere academic interest in homosexuality. Don’t automatically assume these people are bigoted heterosexuals hanging about obsessively on gay websites.

Gazza, I’d say this is a fairly nail on the head factual estimation of it and its multiple personalities.

I don’t think anyone assumes that… actual straight people have no special craving to be here.
Deeply f***ed up closet cases on the other hand find it endlessly facinating.

Yep, and utterly compulsive for them too it seems.

When you think these are what we’re up against, we’ve already won.

I’m wondering how long it’ll be before PN contacts the police to have this revolting excuse for a human being charged with harassment.
It is rather sad that he has to invent multiple names and spend so much time on a gay website. The self-loathing is rather pitiful. Very much agree with you Gazza.

Homosexualism is animalisic behaviour. This is an appropriate representation although the Rhino likely has cleaner morals than the filth of the homodeviants!

  9. Instead of debating a glitzy rhino – please enjoy some of the photos of the day from Birmingham Pride (including some of guys in their underwear, obviously!) …

As they keep proving again and again. Tragic, isn’t it? They have no self-awareness at all.

    1. Its trying to talk to you, Iris. Lucky you. (I think it likes you)

    2. I think it prefers men, Will :D After all, how many straight men would spend so long on a gay site trying to get people to talk to them and pretending they’re doing it to be ‘clever’. A poor excuse for their own personal insecurities, I think.

      Post a reply →
      1. Alas, Iris, you’re right….. oh, lucky us gay men? Still, you have to forgive the less fortunate, we’re blessed with affluence, education and mental health. They have to feel good about themselves by making fools of themselves on an internet site. Uugh! I personally would be mortified.

  11. Dont get me wrong, i appreciate the intent, but this seems like a waste of money. Maybe they could have donated the money to help tackle homophobic bullying in schools, to help support suicide attempt survivors, something that would actually help, not some incredibly stereotypical rhino xx
