  1. Why is it that you can rely on religious extremists to indulge in oppression in support of their putrid fiction?

Religion is a cancer on humanity – And if you leave it unattended, it will kill.

    1. You’ve made it very clear several times now that you don’t like religion. Don’t confuse bigotry with spirituality like these people do!

      1. But religion IS a cancer on society that will kill if ignored.

That is a statement of fact so I don’t understand your comment.

      2. Formal Russian Orthodoxy is far from being a spirituality. This is why they can turn people loose on GLBT parades to do the bishop’s dirty work. I was Orthodox for almost 20 years and they are rabidly anti-gay.

  2. Putin’s Russia is a KGB Russia. It is returning to the cold war mentality. This whole anti gay move is anti western chest thumping. Putin, and others like him, delusionally say LGBT’s are a Western phenomenon and have no place in Russia. He’s a really nasty piece of work.

  3. Power to the people, no justice no peace, the protest have begun and the riots will follow if the people do not get their freedom and equal rights. No slave has been kept down forever in history, they always rise up to slay the oppressor. The proof that oppressors are mad men because they never learn the lesson and always hold people down until they rise up to freedom and victory. So the oppressed always have to fight back to get their freedom, even in America the North had to fight the south to free the slaves who the white Christians wanted to keep oppressed and in chains to do their work for free. The time has come to rise up oppressed people and take the freedom you have been denied so long.

    1. But as it’s Russia the authoriities will eventually start murdering the protesters like they are doing in Syria.

Dictatorships like Russia and Syria are laws unto themselves.

      1. That is what I see happening. It was this way, even under the Tsars–google “Bloody Sunday 1905″ to see what I mean. The culture does not seem able to get rid of the need for a strong man at the helm, be it the Tsar, Stalin, or Putin.

  4. The bravery of these activists is outstanding, after years of abuse they still keep on standing up for their rights. I hope I would be half as brave in a similar situation.

  5. The holy ones again, as with equality and civil rights issues of the past they are being smoked out and exposed as the hateful, mean spirited ones.

I love it when they say ‘homosexuality’ is a sin. What about hetero adultery (coveting thy neighbour’s wife), absolutely rampant among them, one in two marriages failing, hardly the fault of equal marriage. They’re doing a great job themselves in trying to redefine marriage.

  6. Alexander the Great 27 May 2012, 8:59pm

MILLIONS of people are hoping that Moscow will eventuually set the example for the world! Silenced people in the West need to start speaking up!

    1. Alexander the Great 27 May 2012, 9:05pm

Obviously, speaking up against this rampant propaganda of immorality…

      1. Another bore!

        1. Agreed. A lot of desperate attention seekers here today. He must be referring to himself as one of the “silenced” – probably by way of medication.

      2. Robert in S. Kensington 28 May 2012, 2:15pm

And hetero adultery isn’t immoral, imbecile.

    2. Can you begin to imagine the sort of forelock tugging, dark ages hell the majority would still be living in if it wasn’t for brave people like this? The sort of nightmare we would still be in if the bible hadn’t been well and truly cherry picked?

      1. Robert in S. Kensington 28 May 2012, 2:16pm

I count Peter Tatchell among the brave people who himself was beaten up in Moscow a while ago. Makes me appreciate him even more.

    3. Your comment is juvenile, it deserves a juvenile response. 0121DO1.

    4. Irony is choosing Alexander the Great as your username and then posting that trash.

  7. Truth to power 27 May 2012, 10:11pm

Eastern Orthodox can be violent, and feel justified in expressing their disapproval toward LGBTs, as their clergy encourage them to do so. Even in the U.S. and Europe, you’ll seldom find a friendly priest in this religion expressing any kind of approval or support toward LGBTs and their immediate families. This sham of a religion is on a par with the worst examples of extreme evangelical religions.

    1. Shake Spear 28 May 2012, 12:24am

Not true. Out of all the major religions, the Eastern Orthodox church has proven to be the least bloodthirsty in history. This is a political gag on gay people, irrespective of its original ‘inspiration’.

    2. Robert in S. Kensington 28 May 2012, 2:17pm

The Greek Orthodox too is just as vile.

      1. Thank you. Obviously some are not aware of the depths of homohatred within Orthodoxy. I do because I was Orthodox for nearly 20 years. Greek, Serbian, Ukrainian…they’re all the same when it comes to GLBT people.

  8. I’m surprised you forgot to mention the Orthodox thugs’ violence against the demonstrators. (it’s up on Reuters and is mentioned in the report on GlobalPost).

    Bad day for us all.

  9. These members of the LGBT community must learn to follow the law, and these sorts of propaganda protests aren’t going to be accepted in this country

    1. What kind of a law is it that puts people in jeopardy for expressing an opinion and asking for full civil equality? Russia and Russians still do not understand what it means to be responsibly democratic and that the will of the majority must not supersede without guaranteeing the safety of minorities and minority opinion. I wonder if it’s still safe for Jews to live in Russia, or are they still shunted and persecuted because of their “Jewish propaganda”?

    2. “These members of the LGBT community must learn to follow the law, and these sorts of propaganda protests aren’t going to be accepted in this country”#

You mean like the pathetic Rosmary Bull?

    3. Is that you Aiden?

    4. Yep they used to have that here in the uk. It resulted in self-loathing closet cases, suicides and sham marriages where no-one involved was the winner.
But I guess that’s all OK with you so long as you get to claim some bogus moral victory.
All animals are equal, but some are more equal than others, right?

      1. In the case of some people like the erudite Andrew here, animal is the operative word Flapjack.

        1. Then again, animals can be funny. What Andrew is lacking in intelligence, he more than makes up for in being boring..

  10. ”I will not allow perverts to bring the wrath of God onto our city”you will though if you do not follow the teachings of the New Testament. ‘God is love and HE who abides in love abides in God and God in HIM.’
Tzar Putin, the new Tzar of Russia. Oh oh now the fight really begins for freedom.

  11. It’s disgusting that this is still happening. God bless the brave souls who are strong and willing enough to stand up for what’s right. I take gay pride for granted, it’s easy to forget how important it is, sometimes.

  12. Absolutely Scandalous, when one cannot express their individuality, in a country ruled by the church. The Council of Europe should impose human rights laws, Russia is not above international law.

    1. Sadly Russia IS above international law.

It’s a nuclear armed dictatorship with vast natural resources which western Europe relies on.

The best hope for Russia is when China starts annexing vast parts of the sparsely populated Eastern Russia (and this is inevitable – China is overpopulated, and in the Asian part of Russia there are virtually no inhabitants.

  13. Of course Russia will want a nice warm welcome at the London Olympics. They don’t even deserve an invite! Human rights before sporting rights!

  14. Keep supporting our comrades in Russia.

    A ‘Stu’pid deviant said…
I promised the police were investigating you and that they intended to arrest you. Nothing has changed. I have not lied. The arrest will happen. Neither you nor I can control when it will occur – but it will. Of course you can expedite it by handing yourself in – but you are too chicken to do that Keith. You seem keen to sort the issue out in you rhetoric, but then lack the moral fibre and courage to do anything about it when a solution is presented to you. Coward!

What benefit is there for me to hand myself in? What bizzare logic you employ.
Are you in the habit of handing yourself in for crimes you do not believe you have comitted and that you do not believe are being investigated? Time is clearly more valuable to me than it is to you. You are a mentally diseased, immoral freak to think that if some abominable/filthy and unhygenic practice is enjoyable and there is adult consent then it can’t be immoral. This means that you condone s-cat and anal incest!

    1. Jock S. Trap 28 May 2012, 12:36pm

As usual another pointless comment from Keith.

    2. Me and you had this conversation before Keith. Why you draggiong it back up now? Has your wee holiday from PN caused some sort of memory loss???

    3. Yet another boring useless waste of skin gibbering nonsense.

    4. Poor Keith. Maybe if he ditched the ex-gay “conversion” nonsense he’d be able to find a man for himself rather than this cringing obsession over Stu here.

      1. Robert in S. Kensington 28 May 2012, 2:19pm

Will, as well as his craven obession with a gay website.

        1. Indeed. Add to that all his creepy obsession with penises and what he “thinks we do with them” (i.e. what he wants to do with men)

Its rather pathetic. Reminds me how happy I am to have my mental health.

    5. Irrelevant (and boring). Go away.

    6. Somebody is a little obsessed with what they think goes on in gays’ beds….all those other things you mention happen a lot -in straight porn

  16. Jock S. Trap 28 May 2012, 12:37pm

Shameful behaviour from Moscow… a shame they have such hatred for humanity and life to justify this kind of appalling injustice.

Religion is the one true evil of this world and the quicker we rid of it the better.

  17. GingerlyColors 28 May 2012, 7:02pm

Just as well that those ‘Russian Grannies’ didn’t win Eurovision which would have resulted in Russia hosting next year’s contest. I am glad that a country with a positive outlook on LGBT rights will be hosting next year and I am sure that bookings are already being taken for flights to Sweden.

  18. It would be great to see somebody like Obama or Cameron actually stand up for what they say they believe in and condemn Russia’s actions. Even just draw attention to it, SOMETHING to help these people.

  19. Russia..always backwards i guess. i feel bad living right next to it (Finland) ..i feel like the homophobia in Russia influences Finland’s society as well. In a bad way.

Something needs to be done about Russia. It’s collapsing as it is …
