Found this great Roy Zimmerman mashup (music by Stephen Sondheim) refering to Romney’s homophobic bullying past… and how not much has changed.

Wonderful news! Gay people voting republican should be ashamed of themselves. Their party doesn’t even support one piece of equality legislation. There is something intrinsically wrong voting against one’s own interests and worse, persistently supporting one’s oppressors.

    1. There has to be a point at which the Republican party starts to get more gay friendly, in the same way that the Conservatives did. Homophobia is becoming less and less socially acceptable and homophobic policies currently do not benefit them in any way. Soon they will actually disadvantage them and it will be in their best interests to become less homophobic.

He’s already said it’s going to be a campaign issue, the same wedge issue that cost them the election in 2008.

It will cost the Tories the election in 2015 if the majority in their party don’t support equal marriage, although the opponents therein think otherwise.

  5. A man of great integrity and leadership.

LGBT equality is the current crucial civil rights issue in the USA and many other nations.

Obama gets it, desires it and is prepared to lead it.

Thank You Mr President. You are surely on the right side of history.

I just learned that former Joint Chief of Staff, Colin Powell, a moderate republcian, has also come out for equal marriage in the U.S.A. Well done, sir and thank you.

    1. It’s fantastic news – another REAL statesman, not a pretend one like Romney, shows that he supports equality and fairness.

      http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2012/05/23/powell-favors-same-sex-marriage/?on.cnn=2

“In terms of the legal matter of creating a contract between two people that’s called marriage, and allowing them to live together with the protection of law, it seems to me is the way we should be moving in this country. And so I support the president’s decision.”

“I respect the fact that many denominations have different points of view with respect to gay marriage and they can hold that in the sanctity in the place of their religion and not bless them or solemnize them,”

You know sometimes I have to stop myself and ask “Is this really happening, are the people that matter beginning to really get it?” The answer undoubtedly is YES. The time is NOW. Change is coming. YES WE CAN!
