A street in San Diego, California has been renamed in honour of the gay rights activist, Harvey Milk, on what would have been his 82nd birthday.

The San Diego City Council had voted unanimously to rename the street, currently called Blaine Street. The motion was proposed by Councilman Todd Gloria and seconded by Councilman Carl DeMaio, both of whom are gay.
