Well, it is. Look at the fantastic S8′episode Homer’s Phobia for a satire of homophobia. It’s far more interesting than anything The Simpsons pumps out these days.
I have to agree. The characters and story lines stopped feeling genuine over a decade ago. The old episodes still hold up, but I can’t sit through any of the new ones.
I don’t know exactly why you received so many dislikes, I totally agree with you, The Simpsons is so unwatchable these days that you can’t call the series “The Simpsons” anymore, it has become something like a bad parody of itself. Lately they just call anyone to guest star on the show thinking it will add something to the episode. I wouldn’t be surprised if Justin Bieber or Kim Kardashian guest starred in an episode of The Simpsons.
This is by no means the first time that the Simpsons have dealt with gay issues. In one episode, Homer Simpson, worried that Bart may grow up gay after meeting a gay antiques dealer, took him to see some ‘real men’ at work in a steel mill. All the employees were gay!
The American President may prefer the average American family to be more like the Waltons rather than the Wimpsons but there is always room for the Modern Family.
