Leaving it to state legislatures isn’t working and won’t work. This must come before the Supreme Court to rule at the federal level and strike down those oppressive laws. I think it could happen under the 14th amendment of the Constitution and hopefully it will be applied vigorously.
So, preventing people from marrying, but allowing them to dissolve the marriage is okay, and this is going to “protecting the sanctity of traditional marriage” is it?
After all just because you don’t recognize or allow equal marriage… doesn’t mean that saying it’s OK to divorce gay couples.
It becomes conveniently self serving to respect the rights of couples to legally go their separate ways… if only because it allows you to undo marriage equality just because you disagree constitutional rights granted people in other states!
If you don’t recognize equal marriage in the first place…allowing divorce seems to become semantic in contradicting the logic.
Sounds like a case of putting the cart before the horse. Maryland should legalise gay marriage before it starts breaking them up. As Maryland is so concerned with the Biblical concept of marriage then it should ban divorce as the Bible condems it. Or is it yet another case of cherry-picking which parts of the Bible to preach just to oppress others.

The road to equality eh!!
yes, because there is nothing objectionable in UNdoing a gay marriage.

the problem in the US is that marriage is a responsibility of the states, and not of the federal government.
the constitution would probably not allow a federal law to usurp the powers of a state.

The logic eludes me.
Two wrongs don’t make a right!
