Paul Cameron, founder of the Family Research Institute has said US President Barack Obama’s support of equal marriage rights for gay couples lends ‘credence’ to claims that he had gay relationships and that the ‘the long term goal of the homosexual movement’ is to ensure children can ‘try’ or ‘maybe be forced’ to experience gay sex acts.

Cameron told the Voice of Christian Youth America radio station he thought the timing of President Obama’s announcement was “miserable”, Right Wing Watch reports.

He said: “I would have expected him, as you did, to wait until he was the new president and say, “Guess what? I’ve changed my mind,” or, “I’ve evolved.” But homosexuality is the one sin, or the one habit, that is 24/7. It is homosexuality all the time.

“And actually, while I’m not sure about the claims by the various people who have reported that Obama has at least participated at times with them in homosexual acts, this certainly lends some credence.”

He went on to suggest gays may rape children, saying: “Mark my words clearly; the long term goal of the homosexual movement is to get every little boy to grab his ankles and every little girl to give it a try.

“They will not rest until every one of our children at least gets to try, has the opportunity and maybe is forced to at least once experience homosexual acts.”

He added that marriage rights were “just a step along the way” to that end. Cameron’s Family Research Institute is considered a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center.

The group was founded “to generate empirical research on issues that threaten the traditional family, particularly homosexuality, AIDS, sexual social policy, and drug abuse”.

One caller to the radio station put it to Cameron and host Jim Schneider: “They gave blacks equal rights and that was a bad path and now look where we are, if I don’t feel like I want to hire a black man for my business I’m in all sorts of trouble and now it’s going to be some homo who is gonna have to get a job because I can’t do nothing about it.”

The radio host claimed that it was not the same situation as while race cannot be altered, “one can change from homosexual behaviour”.

Cameron said blacks and women were given “special rights”, which were now being extended to “transgenders, people who are really strange”. He added that American was heading in a direction where “the weirder you are, the more rights you will obtain”, and that gays were “mentally deranged”.

In 2011, the Scottish Catholic Church used research by Cameron to justify its opposition to allowing gay couples to marry claiming that gays led an “exceptionally hazardous” lifestyle.

A Church spokesperson told PinkNews.co.uk a 1998 study by Paul Cameron showed “homosexual activity may be associated with a lifespan shortened by 20 to 30 years”, but that many “pro homosexual campaigners” believe Cameron’s methodology is “at best unsound”.

The American Psychological Association, the American Sociological Association and the Canadian Psychological Association have all officially distanced themselves from him.

Cameron was tricked into appearing in the 2009 ‘mockumentary’ Brüno by Sacha Baron Cohen, in which he gave the title character advice on how he may be able to turn straight by suggesting he give women “a chance to seduce [him]“.

Cameron also told VCY America: “Part of the problem with the Christian Church in the United States today is that’s it’s been psychiatricized or psychologilized [sic], we seem to think that it’s our job to be counselors or do something to help people change.

“The fact is that the Christian Church for 2000 years tried to and eventually got homosexuality to be made illegal, when you make it illegal a lot of people don’t get into it because it’s illegal, when you make it illegal a lot of people get out of it because it’s illegal, when you say ‘we don’t want to be unkind’—Hey, we have to protect our children! We have to have a future!”
