Well done, Stephen and thank you! Let’s hear it from more in the Labour Party. Why doesn’t Ed Miliband make his own video?

  2. He wants to have a word with the current MP for his old constituency and tell her that equal marriage is the right thing to do.

Good on him though for adding his voice!

Er Stephen was not the first out gay MP to be elected. lord Smith of Finnsbury has that accolade. Chris Smith was elected as MP for Islington South & Finsbury in 1983. He was out at the time but this was only broadcast in 1984. He won again in 1987 when it was crystal clear to everyone in his comstituency that he was gay, a full decade before Twigg. Note that Gordon Marsden and Ben Bradshaw were also elected in the 1997 as an out gay MP

    1. Thanks for that correction
