Some MPs won’t report their support or opposition for political reasons. Some of those in opposition may have a change of heart when it finally comes to a vote and then face their constituents after the fact. I hope this trend for support continues making it 5-1 in favour.

This doesn’t surprise me in the slightest. As I posted on a thread over the weekend, the BBC in particular seems to be going out of its way to play up the opposition as if it is greater than it actually is. The fact is, there is no major opposition to bringing in marriage equality, there’s just the tiny percentage of religious traditionalists. Nobody else across the UK is opposed.

The media needs to actually report the situation rather than focussing on spinning it into a big conflict.

Yes, I totally agree with that. I just don’t understand why we’re not seeing any major pushback at the opposition. Once in a while you’ll see a supportive article here and there, but nothing really substantial from any in Parliament. I’m surprised major celebrities in the acting world haven’t come out in support. Are we to construe they do not support it by their silence I wonder?

Why is it taking so long to get marriage equality made into law?
    Where is the blockage?

  5. Disappointing to see some Labour MPs in the not likely to support column!
