The vice-presidents say “gay couples deserve the same rights as heterosexuals” then right off the bat make two exceptions — marriage and adoption. Well “equality” with any exception — especially these two — can hardly be called equality at all. They do not endorse equal rights for gay couples — extended rights perhaps but not equal.
It is a bit hypocritical to say gay couples deserve equality in one breath and then talk about the ways in which they want to prevent gay couples from being equal in the next breath. But central America is a different kettle of fish to South America.
