  1. What a complete b a s t a r d. And what an apology – to anyone he ‘may have offended’!

    Words fail me.

    1. Paddyswurds 1 May 2012, 3:02pm

That wasn’t an apology, it was an excuse…. Sack the creep !!

  2. This is completely unnacceptable and only a dismissal will do. Advocating rape under any circumstances is abhorent and his so called apology holds no weight!

  3. Yeah that appology was offensive in itself.

  4. A small apology holds no weight, as D.McCabe says, compared to what he said on live radio to that man. Amazing what people can get away with nowadays!

  5. What a horror this man is…
” My comments were inappropriate ”
More than inappropriate …so damaging and giving credence to the worse members of society who think in the same horrific way, and there are many of them out there.
    Sack him!

  6. He needs to be off the air.

Just another small-brained, small-minded cretinous American who has no concept at all that so-called “corrective” rape is a very real danger to LGBT women around the world. INCLUDING the UK and the US.

Blinkered. Stupid. Convinced of his own superiority when actually possessing nothing could be further from the truth.

  7. Yet again a radio personality ‘unintentionally’ causes offence. Do these people not have a code of conduct or something they must follow. So he has ‘genuinely apologised’. Well that’s not good enough. He should be dismissed to show that this type of behaviour is not acceptable. This is happening far too often and unless people start being dismissed we will have meaningless apologies everytime it happens. And as usual those in charge state they are ‘friends of the Gay Community’. Well I would hate to see our enemies then.

  8. Robert in S. Kensington 1 May 2012, 12:18pm

Disgusting. The man should be sacked and never again allowed to be on the air waves. Rape isn’t just about power, but about disrespect and contempt of women.

  9. Not good enough.

“hose founders included Presidential hopeful, Mitt Romney.” Well THERE’S a surprise. Was another one Dr.Gaspar?

  10. Just found a picture of him online and he looks like the type who is still dragging his knuckles on the ground!

  11. Suddenly Last Bummer 1 May 2012, 12:43pm

It totally reeks of a ‘corrective rape’ mentality, whether he said it in jest or not.

  12. suggesting the guy get a friend to screw his daughter straight was immediately (and hysterically) reported in various places as condoning repeated rape….

this is absolute stuff and nonsense as everyone knows it just takes ONE good shag to turn a lesbian.

    still… nice he apologised

    1. Paddyswurds 1 May 2012, 1:16pm

      @pip…
…you sir are just as bad as this ignorant homophobic knuckle dragger. To advocate rape is and always was a horrendous crime. That Pink News hasn’t deleted your comment by now is to say the least, tantamount to agreeing with your neanderthal homophobic views. 12

      1. oh I love it when people make assumptions about my gender!

when i were a young lesbian i used to find the claim, that one shag is all it took to turn a lesbian, funny…. then I shagged a bloke (mostly out of curiosity) and found I’m bisexual… funny that aint it.

the original advice on the radio was in reference to that ‘belief’ that you can turn lesbians…. and better have a friend do it than a stranger… there was no mention of rape… i think it was quite sweet.

After all in many cultures and historically an introduction to sex by an older relative or friend is seen as a positive thing… I’m assuming the same applies in Ohio. (see what a bugger assumption is)?

        1. Then you were bi all along, you brain dead simpleton. I would never screw a man out of curiosity as it makes as much sense to me as screwing another species. It doesn’t compute at all. If it computed to you to a point where you tried it, you were always bisexual.

          Good grief.

          1. nope… people grow…mature…change. Or are all those gay men who had families and then came out as gay really bisexuals? i think some of them may resent that assumption.
your sexuality my be absolute and black and white…. lucky old you.
i don’t find men sexually attractive… i just like having sex with them… cocks are vastly superior to strap ons dontcha know…. or is that like trying to tell a vegetarian how much better real bacon is from soya versions?

          2. You see, I’m not in to sex organs. I am in to WOMEN and we are more than a sum of our parts.

And there is nothing at all mature about you.

But nice job helping perpetuate the stereotype of bi women.

          3. Oh. And I could count on the fingers of one hand the women I have been with who were in to penetrative sex. If you think that ALL lesbians want to play with toys ALL of the time, you truly are delusional (and it makes me think that you are a fraud).

          4. Or are all those gay men who had families and then came out as gay really bisexuals?

Some probably are. Others were pressured into marriage by social and/or religious convention and. left to their own devices, probably wouldn’t have married women. Your point is irrelevant.

        2. Paddyswurds 1 May 2012, 5:03pm

          @………..
……People made the assumption as no one would ever expect another woman to advocate rape of anyone never mind a woman.
Your revelation that you are or claim to be a woman makes your comment all the more sickening.
Your attitude is akin to that in the slums of places like Johannesburg and Cape Town where gay women are regularly raped to “cure” them although most of them are murdered after the rape.
You should be ashamed to call yourself a human being never mind a woman.

        3. in many cultures and historically an introduction to sex by an older relative or friend is seen as a positive thing

Oh really? How interesting. In which cultures is/was it considered positive for women?

    2. Lesbian women just laugh at men like you.

    3. Ahh, I see you are a woman.

You do realise that women like you are what gives bi women such a terrible reputation? Own your bloody label for what it is or don’t you dare whining about how mean other women are when they are disgusted by you.

  13. I cannot believe that this man still has a job.

    I am absolutely disgusted!

  14. Paddyswurds 1 May 2012, 1:01pm

What is glaringly obvious apart from Dieters inexcusable call for rape and his homophobia, is the fathers unmitigated stupidity in sending a hate filled homophobic e.mail about his own daughter to a DJ on a downmarket radio stations inappropriately named show. What exactly did he think he was doing. Perhaps attempting to out her in the hope that would scare her straight.
He ought to be thoroughly ashamed of his blatent homophobia. As for the DJ, nothing less than the sack is enough for this homophobic idiot and one presumes the police are looking at charging him with at very least a hate crime in that he advocated, nay called for the rape of this woman. We are watching and waiting…..

  15. This lowlife suggests to a father that he should have a friend “screw [her] straight”??

What planet is this individual on? The one where daughters are considered their father’s property? He’s been reading the Old Testament a little too much, perhaps.

  16. He appears to have first been employed after creating a fictitious cv and show reel about his DJ’ing activities. He was found out, but the interviewer so impressed by his “creativity” he hired him.

Later, Mr Dieter made something of a career for himself by being part of a show segment called “Dare Dieter”, during which he would take on ANY dare proposed.

That backfired when he suffered an injury from one dare, and he no longer does that. In 2008 he was charged with assault after a beer bottle he threw into a crowd hit a member of the audience on the head, requiring 12 stitches.

  17. There is too a slightly alternative perspective, which is that WMMS has a long history of this and it is just accident that this particular comment got singled out: http://sayencrowolf.net/2012/04/the-gay-furor-over-wmms/

  18. A spokesperson for Clear Channel says, “We can assure you the appropriate disciplinary action has been taken…”

The only appropriate disciplinary action was termination. That Dieter is still on the air says Clear Channel was on board with his comments: no appropriate disciplinary action was taken.

  19. No, simple minded tw@t, the First Amendment protects speech against government censure, not against public outcry or disciplinary action from a private employer. It does not apply in this case.

  20. the fairy godmother 1 May 2012, 4:39pm

he absolutely does have the constitutional right to say whatever he likes. however, holding any kind of position where people are going to be listening to what you say also carries privilege and responsibility with it. to actively encourage someone to have their daughter sexually brutalized in order to “turn her straight” is ignorant, homophobic, and misogynistic. since when did hate speech become a form of media entertainment?

  21. @Aiden

You need to understand what the first amendment actually entails:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_Amendment_to_the_United_States_Constitution

otherwise you appear ignorant. I am sure that’s the last thing you want to appear, other than being deceitful …

  22. I wouldn’t even class that an apology. The man should be ashamed of himself!

  23. David Waite [Clevelander] 1 May 2012, 8:05pm

It seems you are almost as smart as Dieter, Aiden. You may even be teachable. Just for laughs, I’ll try. Here in the US, broadcast frequencies are owned by all citizens in common. Their use is leased and licensed to individual corporations by our agent, the FCC. The license must be periodically renewed, and that renewal is subject to approval by the citizens of the communities covered by that frequency. There is no such thing as a First Amendment right on our radio/TV frequencies, even if our First Amendment meant what you think it does.
That Amendment allows us to say anything we like about elected blockheads (except calls for violence) without fear of legal sanction. Our FA rights have never included similar privilege when talking about private, citizens. We can say Senator Vitter is a diaper-wearing prostitute-patronizing poopyhead, in a world-wide forum. Perfectly legal. Saying the same thing about a neighbor requires both proof and an absence of malicious intent.

  24. Mary Flying Eagle 1 May 2012, 8:52pm

An apology????? This jerk must think we are fools, but then, even a fool would know his words are false, ment to keep his sorry bigot ass on radio. His statement is so dangerous, he should be banned, dismissed, now.

  25. Rachel Haytread 1 May 2012, 8:55pm

No apology could ever make amends for such a vile and sickening comment

  26. GingerlyColors 2 May 2012, 7:17am

WMMS should sack Dominic Deiter immediately or have their licence to broadcast revoked.

  27. Bless you Aiden. You still parrot this, despite clearly not having more than a scant idea of its meaning. Oh well, some people are resistant to learning.

    *sigh*

  28. No way, he should have been fired and they were wrong to allow him to get away with an apology.

  29. Har Davids 2 May 2012, 11:31am

Ah, there was absolutely no intention to promote physical or sexual violence. How stupid people can be, interpreting it like that. Or this was another case of an arse-hole with an audience. There must be someone else who can do this guy’s job.

  30. “Appologized” you mean. Because someone who is forced to apologize always means it, right guys?

This man should be fired for both advocating rape and the homophobic nature of the comment.
