  1. and what about his non lgbt policies?

    1. Why would they be reported on Pinknews?

      1. Spanner1960 14 Apr 2012, 12:59am

Because some of us prefer to see all-round policies rather than just the one-dimensional, blinkered view some people on here only want to see.

Or how about free rights for gay people, but we shoot everyone over 65 on sight?

  2. vversatile 13 Apr 2012, 6:09pm

How many homophobic clerics, who support the death penalty for gays, will Ken invite to tea if he becomes mayor this time?

  3. Best scenario, Ken becomes a mayor and Boris leader of opposition in Commons

    1. To be fair, Boris would probably be a good leader of the opposition

  4. Boris is an embarrassing idiot, Ken has his tongue firmly up Muslim bottom and Brian’s just a wet fart.
Are these really the best candidates we could find? It’s a national disgrace!

    1. national disgrace? really?

      Schlong Head!

  5. Spanner1960 13 Apr 2012, 6:44pm

No mention of licking up to Tower Hamlets? The inbred nepotism amongst local councils or the blatant avoidance of the elephant in the room when it comes to homophobic Muslims?

The man always was, and always will be a total arselicking little weasel.

  6. Spanner1960 13 Apr 2012, 7:03pm

Try reading and watching this and see how this slimeball switches sides wherever he can to try and appease everyone, but ultimately only feathering his own nest:

    1. LGBTLondonequality 14 Apr 2012, 12:21am

Read the manifesto and talk about its policies. Making personal insults only makes you look like you cannot control yourself and reflects badly on you. Ken has spent decades defending and supporting LGB&T Londoners – certainly at least 25 years before Boris Johnson was forced to start to deal with his own homophobia (including support for Section 28, comparing gay marriage to bestiality and as recently as 2005: “Gay marriage can only ever be a ludicrous parody of the real thing.”) and before Brian Paddick even dreamt of coming out. This is a comprehensive document setting out a range of detailed policies – based on consultation with key LGB&T representatives – that are in touch with what lesbian, gay, bi and trans Londoners want and need

      1. It is 2012, not the 1980s, times have changed, we have moved on – got that?

We judge Red Ken Livingstone today, not what he did in the 80s and that goes for Boris Johnson too.

Livingstone has pledged to make London a beacon of Islam, those were his actual words. You can vote for that, I certainly can not. the only obvious choice to stop Livingstone is to vote Boris and that’s exactly what I am going to do. No one is perfect but Boris would be better than more of Ken and his cronies from Islamic Forum of Europe and Tower Hamlets packed into City Hall.

        1. he was addressing islamophobia not endorsing bigotry towards gay people. trust andrew gilligan to put biased and out of context spin on the story, then again i wouldn’t expect anything less from daily telegraph writer

          1. Right, what exactly did Ken say that was addressing bigotry towards gay people?

Also, what has Giligan said that is incorrect?

        2. have you watched video at all and can you read?

i said speach was about islamophobia

          1. Spanner1960 15 Apr 2012, 11:02am

You call it “Islamaphobia”, many of us call it “prevention of the insidious and dangerous growth of Islam across our country.”

There are numerous examples of how Muslim groups are dominating not just the UK, but the whole world, either by stealth or by force, and some of us are trying to prevent it.

  7. I get confused. Didn’t Ken say the other day while making a speech at a mosque-”I will make London a beacon of Islam” ?

    1. Yep and if we want to know how that will affect LGBT people take a look at the events going on in Tower Hamlets and Islamic countries for their treatment of LGBT citizens.

Ken things we’re stupid though. He;s pledged a LGBT adviser and a few tax payer funded piss ups – that will get the gay vote won’t it? No mention of his message to make London the beacon of Islam. We have a duty to stop this man from getting back into City Hall. I will be so angry if this old man wins and brings in his homophobic nut cakes. We have an opportunity to stop him now.

      1. well you are stupid if you cant think for yourself

  8. Isn’t this just another example of what Ken does? Tells everyone what he thinks they want to hear. I wonder what his manifesto is for his homophobic Islamist buddies.

    1. Ah – looks like Ray answered that for me.

    2. His manifesto for Muslim Londoners is to make London a beacon of Islam, does he need to say anymore?

  9. Sorry but Ken continues to defend Yusuf al-Qaradawi even though the Gay and Lesbian Humanist Association proved his defence to be either wrong or a lie. IN 2005!!!

This is an excellent document. 1. Spanner1960 14 Apr 2012, 12:57am

Yeah right. And he has said all things to all people in order to gain votes, but newt man speak with forked tongue…

      1. reading daily telegraph much or daily hatemail for that matter

    2. Mate, do you realise it is 2012?

Ken is proposing a piss up paid for by our taxes and a LGBT adviser, who will no doubt be on a 100k salary and spend millions of quid doing absolutely nothing for equality at all. I have a few extremely cheap and cost effective ways to improve life for LGBT Londoners….

Create a city where we find it easier to be with our partners, I would LOVE to walk around London holding my partners hand – have more faith in coppers so when we report hate crimes, we know they’ll be taken seriously and acted upon swiftly. More help for LGBT people in fear from their families and friends…. this sort of thing. Not money for piss ups and a stupid LGBT adviser. If Ken understands LGBT people why the hell does he need a LGBT adviser? This man hasn’t learnt has he? Pissing tax payers money up the wall again. Not only this, he’ll make London a beacon of Islam, which Islamic countries can you hold your fellas hand without being arrested or abused? None.

      1. and boris doris the clown is the answer to all that, he gets gay people like nobody else, you make me laugh

    1. Maybe he and Andrew Pierce will form the Tories and Labour Gays Against Marriage Equality grouping before too long?

      1. throw in also an independent candidate christopher biggins, just for a laugh

    2. Robert in S. Kensington 14 Apr 2012, 1:19pm

Absolutely disgusting article and the comments. Bradshaw of course will NEVER apologise for the hurt he has caused and the homophobia he has fomented by his irresponsible, wreckless comments. Ed Miliband is a disgrace for not censuring him. Bradshaw is an idiot. On the one hand he “jokes” about calling himself and his “partner” husbands because he doesn’t like the sound of partner. On the other hand, he doesn’t realise that if he had been able to marry in the first place, he wouldn’t have had to “joke” about it and he wouldn’t have had his hissy fit in 2009 at the media. I despise and detest him. Those comments posted in the Mail are vile and offensive, no thanks to him.

    3. Robert in S. Kensington 14 Apr 2012, 1:28pm

I forgot to thank you Dr. Robin Guthrie for posting the link. I never read the Mail because of the homophobia. In my view Bradshaw has wrought irreparable harm on equal civil marriage and the majority of us who want it. What galls me is that nobody has countered his statement in the Times or Guardian or any other paper supporting us. The Telegraph and Mail have a far wider readership, that we know. What Bradshaw has done has given the impression that the majority of the country are opposed to equal marriage. How can this go unchallenged? Having read that article and the vile comments, I’m feeling less confident than I ever was, very disturbing.

Meanwhile, Lord Carey is off on yet another tirade!

  11. Jock S. Trap 14 Apr 2012, 8:31am

Don’t believe a word of it… he says too many different thing to different groups. All vain promises most of which he cannot deliver but thinks it’s what people want to hear.
    -
Last month he sucked up to the Muslim vote, telling them he’d spend money on making all Londoners accepting Islam, when most do and how Mohammad’s words were “an agenda for all humanity”. Plus the odd ‘joke’ that if they didn’t vote they’d go to hell.
    -
Which it is Ken coz surely the Muslim promise and the LGBT promise aren’t compatible? Least with Boris if you’re a Londoner, your treated as such and not in the usual decisive Ken way.
    -
And don’t get me started on hypocrite Ken and his taxes…. in his own words…. “Rich Bastard!”
    -
My vote will Be Boris – May 3rd!

    1. Lots of Tory trolls about this; probably most of them are just Central Office wonks who are not even LGBT.

The fact is that Boris hasn’t mentioned LGBT people AT ALL in his manifesto.

BTW a lot of those wonks, like Jock S. Trap, are actually demonstrating that they are racists by automatically equating Muslims with homophobia. This is, of course nonsense, I have many Muslim friends and colleagues in London who are not at all homophobic or transphobic and one who is trans, and another who has a gay brother, who is accepted by her family.

So it looks like the Tories are not only homophobic and transphobic to the extent that they are ignoring LGBT issues in their manifesto, but they are prepared to play the race card.

      Sickening (but predictable).

      1. Natasha, that’s right, smear LGBT people as Tories or anything else for that matter if they dear to criticise Ken Livingstone, disgraceful!

I don’t care how many times Boris mentions LGBT in his manifesto. I am a Londoner first and foremost, not an LGBT person. My sexuality doesn’t define me. Making London a beacon of Islam will certainly affect my life and all the other stuff Ken is involved within Tower Hamlets and his Islamic clerics, it would be madness to vote for Ken. Whether Ken is working for homophobic Press TV, working with homophobic preachers who want us DEAD and with councillors in Tower Hamlets who openly abuse LGBT councillors in the borough…. you have chosen to deny all of this for political gain. You’re a disgrace.

      2. Jock S. Trap 14 Apr 2012, 4:53pm

Natacha – 1 question… since when has Islam/Muslim being a race? They aren’t. Clearly you haven’t read my comment properly but selected bits from it to suit. Your clearly the kind that likes to through the racist card to stifle others from a decent, important debate. That my dear, is called communism.
        -
I have a free mind thank you not a closed one like yours.

        1. so police doesnt profile muslims on the bases of race and ethnicity?

          1. Spanner1960 15 Apr 2012, 10:58am

No. It is an optional request.
That said, maybe it should be obligatory, and then we might really see where our problems lie.

    2. Indeed Jock S Trap.

With Boris, you know where you stand. He has said some daft things in the past but Boris is Boris and it is 2012 now. he has been quite a competent mayor and has certainly done no LGBT person any harm, he supports same sex marriage, supports World Pride coming to London and has recently stopped homophobes from displaying their vile on buses.

Ken Livingstone likes to divide and rule. Promise Muslims the earth, promise LGBT Londoners other stuff…. I am sorry, creating a LGBT friendly city and making London a beacon of Islam are NOT compatible ideas.

  12. Serious people, Ken Livingstone really is taking us for fools. It makes me so angry. Appoint s LGBT adviser to do what I don’t know (waste millions of pounds no doubt) and bring back a few tax funded piss ups (disgraceful) and the gays are happy…..

Vote for this man at your peril. Yes ken has done some fantastic and supportive things in the past but as of 2012 he is a disgrace and we all know where his real priorities lie, it’s not with us.

    1. couldnt disagree more

  13. A commitment to condemning hate speech wherever it comes from would help, Ken. You need to emphasise this categorically, given the people you have associated with….

  14. LTBG Marta 14 Apr 2012, 3:55pm

I am an LGBT support worker and activist and have worked under Ken and Boris. Oh dear what to do? Politians are all crooks who will say anything to get our vote so we can’t vote for any of them. But they are the only candidates on offer. Ken says all things to all men (and women) and Boris gives us this blustering bumbling act to disguise his devil-take-the-hindmost One Percent are the only people who matter agenda. So there are a lot of comments on this article reflecting cynicism about Ken Livingstone’s manifesto for LGBT people. Well we could perhaps compare it to Boris’s.. oh dear there isn’t one. OK so we can contrast it with what he says to Muslim people. Does he mean that increasing equality and opportunity for LGBT people is compatible with increasing influence of Islamic hate speakers. Well no, Islam is a broad as Christianity, and we know that Christian fundies lurk in the Tory party (did you see that Michael Gove is trying t sneak in a new-model Section 28?). (continued)

  15. LTBG Marta 14 Apr 2012, 4:07pm

(contd) Commentators here have said it is not about the past it is about now, so Ken’s past good works do not count. Well I think it counts that he was doing it when it was not a vote-getter. He set up the arrangement to solemnise gay partnerships many years before civil partnerships, and funded Pride when it was not universally accepted as of the great festivals that mark London out as special. During Boris’s time as mayor, I have seen him dismantle the LGBT liaison infrastructure that Ken had set up. Boris simply is not interested in us except for the occasional photo-opportunity at Pride. In the end, each of us is what we do not what we say.

  16. Ken is a whore for Islam.
