  1. Marriage! Topical and lending itself to a variety of costumes.

I’d go for the gypsy wedding look, personally. Classy like.

You mean like big and, er, fat?

  2. Marriage equality and civil partnership equality for same sex and opposite sex couples seems to be a good idea.

It is wrong that same sex couples are not allowed to marry.

It is wiong that opposite sex couples are not allowed to CP.

Bugger CP’s. Send them the way of section 28.
They should never have been allowed in the first place.
      Marriage for everyone!

I would have thought ‘Marriage’ was the topic of the year. Bit of a no brainer really.

That said, resist the temptation to take a pop at religion, however much you may want to – it will only cause animosity and give ammunition to those out there that are looking to us to trip up at any moment.

  4. Can’t we just do Tory bashing – an apt theme in recompense for past tyranny?

    1. Yes perhaps revenge is a sore point – forgiveness is key, but forgetting ensures this sort of thing could happen again and if not to the LGBT community – then to who?

  5. Safe sex and caution need to be taught. Too often the men that go to this sort of event (certainly not all of them, of course) are the ones that are promiscuous and unsafe. This would be the perfect opportunity to teach about how just because there’s no risk of pregnancy, that doesn’t mean you have no reason to use a condom, etc. The current themes seem (at least to me) to be dwelling on the past and teaching gay people and their friends things that they don’t need to know, such as… how to accept gay people. Of course, I’m not saying that the current choices are bad, there are just better things to be preaching to this crowd.

  6. The United Colours of Pride: far too vague and woolly on its own, and it just sounds like an advert for Benetton

Triumphs and Tragedies: Much better. It shows just how much progress has been made in the UK, and the fact there’s still more to be done.

Above all, it reminds everyone that gays in many countries are far worse off than we are and need our help.

    and Triumphs and Tragedies

    1. Grrr… PN needs an edit function ! Ignore the last line.

  7. Having been at Pride yesterday, I would say the theme was ‘queuing!’

Long long queues to collect tickets, to get into each tent, the toilets and bars! Could have been managed much, much better!
