  1. Another non-story. Substitute “Catholic” for “Arab” and I’d be just as unsurprised. I hope no government money was wasted on this.

Do you realise that now a problem has been evidenced it will be possible to get funding to address it and actually do something to help people and to challenge homophobic attitudes and support victims of homophobia from this community? Why is that a waste of money? Tackling homophobia is a worthwhile cause.

That’s because the majority of Arabs I assume are Muslim, which is an anti gay religion full of evil and hate

    1. Most of the respondents were Christian and lived in Sydney.

The way Christianity is interpreted in West Asian cultures suggests it’s little better than Islam.

They might identify as Christian, but I think if they’re Arab or from Arab countries that the Islamic culture influenced them. But yes, Christians follow an anti gay religion full of evil and hate too.

        1. No, I think in fact Christians in a country where they’re a minority are quite capable of asserting their own beliefs (I say that having been brought up as one in a country where Christianity is a minority religion).

I’m sure Australia’s anti-gay industry will see an opportunity to pit one oppressed minority against another the way NOM and others do in America.

Who cares! Most live in some hideous Sydney suburbs that no would would dream of going to anyway! Typical report that is all about Sydney. Ofcourse, there is no other place in the whole continent of Australia ,other than Sydney! Overpriced and should be overlooked!

If you go to Redfern where heaps of trans (mtf) prostitutes hang out, you’ll see that 90% of the customers are from an arabic background. They feel better about it if they can pretend it’s a girl kind-of.
Also the idea that it’s about marriage and kids is only partly true – there is a real homophobia in arab-australian communities, whether christian or muslim.
The parents in these communities have their heads in the sand about ALL their children’s activities, not just the gay and lesbian ones. But our highest-in-the-world rate of ethnic inter-marriage will smooth out these cultural bumps within a few generations. In the meantime there is a vibrant sex-on-premises industry serving the remaining anglo closet cases (mostly older), politicians, and ethnic minorities. Except what about the lesbichiennes from ethnic minorities? As usual the women cop the worst deal…
