Just some background info: Messrs. Pinkas and Arad are responsible for getting same-sex marriages recognized by Israel. Mr. Pinkas married Mr. Arad in 2005 in Canada in order to get Israel to recognize his marriage. The Supreme Court ruled in their favor, forcing the Interior Ministry to recognize all same-sex marriages or partnerships performed abroad in territories where legal.
So Mr. Pinkas, who is also a member of Tel Aviv-Jaffa City Council and started the LGBT community center in Tel Aviv, is quite a significant actor in LGBT rights and history in Israel.
