Doesn’t sound homophobic to me. I’m not sure there’s anything to apologise for and I can’t see what all the fuss is about. I don’t know about the sexism charge, which may hold some water, but comparing rugby to gay porn… where’s the insult? Where’s the demeaning? If someone compared beach volleyball or mixed doubles tennis to straight porn would that be heterophobia? And as for expressing boredom at a boring council meeting… are local councillors now required to pretend absolute fascination with everything they do these days?

As for cricket in India, that’s the sort of extreme reaction you might expect in developing countries. I thought the Welsh had evolved a bit beyond that?
