Having lived in NI for most of my life this really surprises me. Is there really that much going on in the gay scene that they can sustain a magazine? Wow, good on them. I would definitely grab a copy if I still lived there.
When we chose a cover star for a magazine, its not based at all on their sexuality and I dont feel any self loathing or hatred by placing on the Launch front cover one of the highest profile rugby stars in the world, doing a great deal of work to tackle homophobic bullying, globally. Why are you Straight Phobic? If i had chosen the Straight Woman Madonna, would you have approved, One of the biggest reasons why we decided to choose Ben Cohen was his anti homophobic bullying work, not his body or his sexuality, that is why he has his t shirt on!! – We could have gone topless, but we chose for what i think are very good reasons, not too. Ben Cohen is one of the most upstanding and clearly strong supporters of LGBT people internationally. His stance against gay bullying and homophobia has and is making immeasurable difference in many peoples lives. He is a great choice as a cover pic on any gay magazine. He is also HOT and from purely aesthetic reasons also a great choice for the front cover (as many other LGBT magazines have thought in the past).
Good luck with the future – hope the magazine works out!
I’m afraid for a small market like NornIrl ‘flesh’ and bubblegum costs too much money.
Gay Star (NIGRA’s magazine) did politics and ‘culture’ for want of a better word.
Yes,, it sold better in London than in at home…
Still, good luck – and read upstart on http://www.upstartpublishing.com

Good luck and all the best.
Good luck. Hope it is successful both in business terms and in supporting LGBT people in NI
And with our rippling self hatred always to the fore, we place a straight man on the cover. Well done, chaps!
