Suffolk Pride returns for 2012 with funding plea
After a hiatus in 2011, Suffolk Pride is returning this year with a plea for members of the local community to help fund the event.
Pride organisers say the regional event costs £15,000 and they hope to attract 5,000 revellers.
The day is hosted by the Suffolk LGB&T Network and was launched in 2009.
While 2010’s event attracted more than 5,000 visitors, the 2011 event was cancelled due to funding constraints.
Suffolk Pride’s organisers vowed the event would remain free and last year told PinkNews.co.uk there was “no way on earth” it would charge an entry fee to sustain itself.
Scheduled for 16 June in Christchurch Park, Ipswich, this year’s funding target has not been met so organisers are appealing to businesses in the local area to support the day.
Businesses can become an official sponsor, place an advert on the Suffolk Pride website, have a presence at the event space to showcase what you offer or simply give a donation to the day via the Suffolk LGB&T Network website.
