  1. While the ideal would of course be to not have people like this, which such ill-informed and cruel opinions, voted into parliament at all…at least as Speaker her voting power is neutralised. There is very recent civil partnership legislation in Queensland that now hangs somewhat in the balance following the state election, so if the Speakership makes her one less person who can vote to repeal that right, then, good.

    1. I agree. She had been a shadow minister before the election, so in one sense she is being side-lined since she will not be able to speak on any matter and will not be a minister. The new premier has, in the past, not been all that anti-gay, but his party is. We will need to wait and see what he does and whether he repeals the bill allowing gay civil unions.

That lipstick, that dress, that hair…what’s wrong with this picture?

    Quick, call the style police.

    1. Reminds of the sort of picture Iris Robinson used to like having taken – with any luck she will go the same way.

Don’t mention that tart to me.

I pity any young intern that may go to work or her.

      2. Robert in S. Kensington 30 Mar 2012, 11:41pm

I was thinking that too. There is strong resemblance unquestionably.

    2. She needs to be Gok’d! “Get Gok Wan in here NOW!”

      1. Joel eater 30 Mar 2012, 5:25pm

Do you think that, just maybe, she has bright red nail varnish on too?

  3. Joel eater 30 Mar 2012, 2:39pm

Empowered biblical literalists in positions of power, via internships in parliament.

    Don’t say we haven’t been warned…

  4. This hateful, irresponsible idiot is clearly going to perform dreadfully in her job thanks to her mental illness (her religious belief) and her belief in quacj medecine.

    What an embarrassment for Australia.

  5. Well isn’t that precious.

Australia has it’s very own slice of America now in Queensland.

And, by the way Ms. Fionna, the two FOUNDERS of Exodus left the “ministry”, came BACK OUT as gay, and lived together as a couple until the untimely death of one of them. The other, Michael Busse, is a good friend of mine is a full time gay rights advocate who works tirelessly to try to undo the damage he did in forming the Exodus. His facebook is “ex-ex gay”.

And just to further show that this woman doesn’t know what she’s talking about, Alan Chambers, the current president of Exodus International, recently admitted that he doesn’t think ANYONE changes their sexual orientation from homosexual to heterosexual. Exodus is in the process of shifting focus from telling people that they can change from homosexual to heterosexual to telling them that they can help them learn to avoid homosexual “behavior” and, in some cases, to live satisfactorily happy in a straight marriage.

    BIG difference!

  6. Sad times for Queensland!

  7. Robert in S. Kensington 30 Mar 2012, 3:01pm

Here’s more information on Exodus, the ex-gay organisation.

I would be surprised if Simpson still believes in this nonsense. Exodus has been a total failure. It’s more to do with scamming vulnerable, frightened people for a fee. The day it can prove a straight man can be converted to a gay man, then maybe, just maybe they’ll have some credence, but until then, it remains just a fraudulent business that should be shut down.

      1. Scandalous 30 Mar 2012, 3:20pm

They charge? Quelle surprise. What would Jesus say.

        1. Jesus would say ‘F*** me Mohammed with your big throbbing manhood’.

          1. Robert in S. Kensington 30 Mar 2012, 4:16pm

You are too funny! I had a good laugh at your comment. Love the humour in all this. Big throbbing manhood does have a nice ring to it I must admit.

        2. Robert in S. Kensington 30 Mar 2012, 4:11pm

Oh yes, they charge, in fact all of those ministries do, that’s what they’re all about, making money on the misery of others, all in the name of religion of course.

          1. Joel eater 30 Mar 2012, 5:23pm

They used to drive round the wild west in carts selling snake oil. Now they take credit cards.

  8. Conspectus 30 Mar 2012, 4:18pm

“The time must come inevitably when mankind shall surmount the imbecility of religion, as it has surmounted the imbecility of religion’s ally, magic. It is impossible to imagine this world being really civilized so long as so much nonsense survives. In even its highest forms religion embraces concepts that run counter to all common sense. It can be defended only by making assumptions and adopting rules of logic that are never heard of in any other field of human thinking”. Mencken. Fiona Simpson is a homopobic bigot pure and simple and she can take her repulsive religious doctrine and shove it.

  9. Despite its laid back image and the Mardi Gras, Australia has no recognition of same sex relationships, has a law banning the recognition of same sex marriages and generally treats gay people poorly under the law. Ordinary Australian guys have quite a homophobic streak as well as their elected politicians show.

As an expat Aussie I recommend LGBT people should stay away from Australia and spend your tourist dollars in less homophobic countries when you vacation.

    1. Rule number 6?

    2. Robert in S. Kensington 30 Mar 2012, 11:45pm

To be flippant, Australia certainly does have some of the most good looking men on the planet. Alex O’Loughlin is number one on my list of the best looking Aussies.

  10. I intend to start pressuring the New Zealand gay community into boycotting Queensland- as if their retrograde motion on civil unions wasn’t bad enough…

  11. I like her, lets hope she is taking notes from Russia.

    1. Robert in S. Kensington 30 Mar 2012, 11:43pm

Here we go again with the mentally challenged Aiden, a.k.a. Keith, Buz. What is it with these self-loathing closet cases lately?

    2. Paddyswurds 31 Mar 2012, 11:07am

For your information keith, by electing her speaker, Queensland has effectively silenced this homophobic xtian shrew.

  12. This woman is an abomination of the highest order. Poor Queensland with their hideous new Conservative, fascist and bigotted Government!

    1. Paddyswurds 31 Mar 2012, 11:11am

      @Brenton…
…..As in all Democracies, Queensland has the Government it elected and clearly the voters of Queensland have elected a government that is a reflection of the demographic.

      1. Everything possible must be done to rid Queensland of this menace!

  13. johnny33308 31 Mar 2012, 1:56am

    Get rid of her!

  14. This is a complete disgrace. The idea that a person who holds views about homosexuality that can, at best, be described as verging on the lunatic and who uses her Christianity as some sort of justification for her homophobia (Christ himself would be appalled) can be appointed to such a prominent public office is a disgrace to Queensland in particular and to Australia in general. What is even more worrying is that she managed to find a sufficiently large number of people prepared to vote her into the state legislature in the first place.

  15. Paddyswurds 31 Mar 2012, 11:00am

    @….
….I wonder has she cottoned on yet to the reason why they have made her Speaker of the House. It would seem to me that this was a very shrewd move as it effectively silences this homophobic, racist shrew. Speaker doesn’t get to vote except as a tie breaker and that is as rare as hens teeth in most democracies.

  16. No different than selecting an anti-semite or a white supremacist. Might as well fit the filthy sow with her brown shirt now.

    1. Hatred is incompatible with Life. Something religious right wingers like yourself are up to your armpits in! Your constant ramblings on subjects of Bestiality/paedophilia/incest etc, suggests its a topic that is at the forefront of your everyday activities! You really are a filthy bible basher! Your one way ticket to hell has been booked!

      1. Robert in S. Kensington 31 Mar 2012, 1:51pm

It’s that idiot Keith, a.k.a. Buz, Aiden. Now run along back to your C4M hate group and report your findings, self-loather. They can’t produce one shred of factual evidence to support any of their spurious claims, not one. This moron is in dire need of long-term psychiatric care and mega-doses of prozac. He’s already in hell inside that pea for brains that haven’t evolved since the neanderthals walked the earth.

    2. Mr Ripley's Asscrack 31 Mar 2012, 1:09pm

Lern 2 spel- that way, we won’t think you are a moron who lets a tomb to cavemen speak for them.

  17. GingerlyColors 1 Apr 2012, 8:10am

‘Gorbals Mick’ Michael Martain was not exactly pro-gay either but that didn’t stop him from being Speaker of our Houses of Parliament – even though he was a member of the then ruling Labour Party. Fortunately a speaker has to be impartial and as Court mentioned, she cannot veto legislation. Betty Boothroyd who was a member of the Labour Party is remembered as an excellent speaker during the previous Conservative government.
