  1. Hmmmmm. 100s comments about Luis Suarez and racism gets acted on more than homophobia, but none here as of yet? Has X-Factor started mid week?

    1. This is a US based story.

The FA in Britain is utterly unfit for purpose when it comes to dealing with homophobia, judging by their repeated and stubborn refusal to treat homophobia as seriously as racism.

in Britain racist behaviour results in massive fines and match bans.

in Britain homophobic behaviour results in a a mind wrist slapping and no other consequence.

The FA in Britain is institutionally homophobic and cannot be trusted to deal with homophobia.

Until the FA starts to take homophobia seriously I think footballers who engage in homophobic behaviour should be reported to the police for incitement to hatred and charged with crimes.

  2. US sports are one of the most homophobic bastions known. It goes all the way down to most High School sports.

The only reason any of these “athletes” apologize is because they got caught and their agents insist on it for PR reasons.

Saying it to a ballboy is extraordinarily abusive. I am extremely doubtful such bigots ever keep their promise to never say it again. They just learn to be more guarded where they say it. Idiots!

  3. Thought police out again I see.

  4. We all say things we wish we hadn’t. He’s apologized. Let’s take him at his word. Turn the page.

Hopefully not back to the same page.

    2. You know fukll well that if he had called the ballboiy a n****r then your solution would not even merit consideration.

Racism is regarded as a more serious offence than homophobia.

And this will continue until we start holding the FA and its players accountable.

if the FA refuses to tackle homophobia (which they repeatedly do) then we need to involve the police when some braindead footballer bigot starts inciting hatred against us.

Houston, we have a problem . . . with homophobic soccer players.

  6. I think that he may be genuine in his apology but time will tell on that one.

As Mort has said, lets turn the page and move on, hopefully this time he has learnt from his mistake too?

    1. Let’s NOT turn the page.

Instead let’s start treating homophobia by massively wealthy, privileged sportspeople in a manner as seriously as we regard racism by massively wealthy, privileged sportspeople

I don’t understand how yelling at a ball boy is a “Tweet”.
“I want to apologize for what I did during the Seattle match..” was the tweet.
Is this incredibly sloppy sub-editing or am I missing something?
