  1. This headline is really misleading it makes it sound like the school are the ones who made the prom gay friendly and he is the bigot.

Good luck to the guy though.

    1. Agree. The headline is very ambiguous. If I hadn’t read this story elsewhere, I’d have expected something very different in terms of story content.

I agree with your comments. I’ve refashioned the headline.

    1. “US STUDENT SUES SCHOOL OVER GAY PROM POLICY”

To me, this seems like the student was opposed to the policy. What was the previous headline?

      1. Not really. It doesn’t say either way. The previous headline was more ambiguous.

    previous headline:
“US student sues school over making prom gay-friendly”

No doubt he was elected by his fellow students to represent them. By removing him as President is an affront to democracy. Go on, sue the pants of them.

And do it in the Millions. Only thing that screwed country understands.

Have you noticed . PINK NEWS.

    Readership loss.

No gay people want to come onto these forums anymore.

You allowed us to be castigated, insulted. etc.

    Goodbye.

    1. Calm down love. Plenty of us still here :-)

    2. If you censor a bigot because you don’t like what they have to say, how is that any different from them?

    3. Sister Mary Clarence 25 Mar 2012, 9:11am

      No haven’t noticed that

    4. Staircase2 26 Mar 2012, 1:29am

      …er….eh?

What you mean ‘no gay people want to come onto these forums anymore’…? You’re here for starters aren’t you?

I know I am! And so are all the other people…
So I’m not entirely sure what you’re on about to be honest…

  6. These prom articles make me feel torn. Yea we should be able to go how and with who we want but once allowed id not go. I wouldnt want to be somewhere im not wanted.

Rather take the date for a burger and a drive thru movie lol.

If we all followed that process then absolutely NONE of the progress we’ve made in the last 70 years would have happened…

You’re making the mistake of mixing BOYCOTT/Campaign with EQUALITY/Campaign…

The two are not the same…

      1) I would not wish to spend money on going on holiday to a country which was homophobic – thats a boycott campaign – withholding money in order to get a country to come to its senses and stop treating LGBT people badly (exactly the same as the Anti-Apartheid Boycott campaign against South Africa during Apartheid)

      2) I would support a Kiss-In campaign in a pub or on a bus route run by a company that was discriminating against LGBT people. This is an action designed to bring about positive change and challenge inequality by companies who might be homophobic.

Can anyone recommend a Gay friendly News Site?. Pink News just doesn’t cut it anymore. They allow too many homophobes and religious nuts to castigate, demean and insult Gay people so i’m thinking like a lot of other people …time to go..

    1. If they come here and bother us, then they’re leaving someone else alone. I won’t let the bigots and nut cases drive me away from anywhere. Let them spout their hatred and reveal themselves for who they are. Just once, though, it would be nice if one of them could say something I hadn’t heard before. Sometimes it isn’t the hatred that gets to me, it’s the banality of that hatred.

    2. Staircase2 26 Mar 2012, 1:39am

      This is (predictably) complete bollocks…

…why don’t you ever engage your brain before you engage your fingers?

I agree that Pink News MUST do something about the lack of moderation on these boards and the lack of accountability of people for the messages they leave…

However in fairness, most of the bigoted and demeaning postings come from the very fingers of regular users on here who are both LGBT (more often gay white men of a certain age it must be said) and intensely bigoted and knee-jerk.

The amount of racism and Islamophobia on here is outrageous….

I suggest you sort out the large chunk of wood floating around in your own eye before casting aspersions elsewhere eh..?

  8. Good luck to him!

  9. Unfortunately in most southern US states equal rights for the LGBT community are few and far between. The people in charge push their beliefs on us. Trust me, I live in Texas.

  10. This young man is doing what all LGBT people and gay friendly people need to do and that is sue every time there is an injustice to LGBT people because it seems that only money gets the attention of the anti-gay Christians who want to stop and oppress all gays from having equal rights to marrage and jobs.
