    1. You’ve got to laugh otherwise you would cry. A cess pit of a country corruption and brutality rife and this senator is worried that prisoners might “turn gay”. Does he think his concern might earn him some brownie points with President Mugabe?

      1. I meant “she” and “her” of course. My bad.

      2. GingerlyColors 17 Mar 2012, 6:31am

If anyone wants brownie points they should go and join the Girl Guides.

  1. Ignorant woman…I am also tired of people using ‘turn gay’, I notice you never quoted her as saying it though…are pinknews using ‘turn’ as acceptable phrasing??? i hope not!

  2. Hilarious that the system in Zimbabwe is so backwards that there is a risk money could be wasted on trying to influence people’s sexuality when scientific evidence shows this is not possible.

  3. It if weren’t bordering on tragic it’d be funny – really, you couldn’t make up a woman like this.

  4. Paddyswurds 15 Mar 2012, 12:17pm

    @…
….The near total barbarity and ignorance in Africa is to say the least distressing and the fact that it is being fomented by American fundies makes it all the more galling. This ignorant being…I am loath to call it a woman…would rather see the inmates of prison starve to death than contemplate the idea that they might turn to homosexual activity to relieve sexual tension. Never mind the fact that she thinks that one can turn on homosexuality or become homosexual at a whim and that one has the choice. And Still we send these cesspits of ignorance our tax £s.. When is the Governments of the countries propping up these monstrosities going to take notice and say Enough loudly and clearly with “Non” when they come a begging. The despot Mugabe spent almost one million pounds on a lavish b83rd birthday party recently while his country eqats dry grass.

    1. Paddyswurds 15 Mar 2012, 12:19pm

      errata…
      ….83rd, eats, ** obviously.

    2. Staircase2 15 Mar 2012, 2:20pm

There you go again….bandying about your favourite words ‘barbarity’ ‘ignorance’ and ‘Africa…

Is there ever going to be a time when you assess what is in front of you without feeling the urge to add in your own existing prejudices just for good measure…?

I’ve already posted saying that this is bloody insane – yet there is a post further down from Simba Lumbe which is saying that Pink News has in fact distorted the original story.

Another very good reason why adding prejudices to the fire is ALWAYS a bad idea…

“Prejudice is largely fuelled by the work of fiction”

      1. Paddyswurds 15 Mar 2012, 7:57pm

        @Staircase….
….when pray was the last time you visited Africa. Fyi, I have been to Africa more times than you have had hot dinners, so I speak with some experience and knowledge of the place which I doubt you have. It IS a Barbaric, Ignorant xtian fundie ridden cesspit of brutality and corruption almost from top to bottom , although there are some tiny islands of hope like Namibia for instance…When you have picked you steps through the unbelievable shanty towns of Lagos for example get back to me. In the meantime I will speak as I see and experience. If your attempting to infer that I am in some way racist for describing what is reality then you could not be further from the truth. Like 20 or 30 Irish men an women building houses for the homeless in Zimbabwe while equal numbers of healthy fit young men lay around in the sun in groups smoking weed and laughing at the whities building houses for them and indeed robbing any tools or equipment we happen to lose sight of for a second

        1. Paddyswurds 15 Mar 2012, 8:02pm

….so don’t presume to know anything about me and don’t dare try to lay prejudice at my door until you have swept your own stoop. Now f*uk away off and take the log from your own eye before commenting on the mote in mine.

        2. Staircase2 16 Mar 2012, 5:08am

And how does going to African countries and building houses while denigrating the local population show how ‘not racist’ you are exactly…?

Thats exactly the same kind of paternalistic crap that the missionaries who first fcvked up the continent did.

In fact its the same lame Imperialistic bollocks that has underpinned Australia, India, China, Wales and, indeed, Ireland….

History will teach us nothing unless we actually pay some degree of attention to it…

          1. Paddyswurds 16 Mar 2012, 11:56am

To be still blaming the colonists for the state Africa is in today is, to be honest clamoring and grasping at straws. Almost a hundred year down the road since most of these countries got their freedom it is high bloody time they were getting on with making a liveable and stable state. However corruption is , endemic. . Why should we denigrate fit healthy young men lazing around all day while the filth, excrement and urine runs like a river along their streets and they have to walk around heaps of rubbish outside the hovels where they live. Why are they not spending some of their time cleaning up the environment where they live. The shanty towns of South Africa, Nigeria, Liberia, Congo and countless others are beyond description. Zimbabwe, a country once the bread basket of the continent, is now also beyond description. Once productive farms are now returning to the jungle with farm machinery being cut up to sell for a few cents as scrap. So don’t rant till you know of what you speak.

      2. Paddyswurds 15 Mar 2012, 8:28pm

        @…
…What is your ignorance and stupidity fueled by, one wonders?

  5. *Shrugs*. Wouldn’t expect anything less from a country like that, or indeed that continent.

    1. In that continent is a country that has gay rights built into it’s constitution. South Africa doesn’t judge the UK on the actions of Turkey.

      1. Paddyswurds 16 Mar 2012, 4:15pm

        @…
…That’s as maybe, but discrimination and even murder of GLB people is still rife in S Africa. Lesbians are regularly raped to “cure” them and young gay teenage boys are unmercifully beaten and then taken to prostitutes and forced to perform unmentionable acts with them in order to “cure” them too and if that fails, which of course it will, they are summarily executed on the spot. Barbarity is endemic in Africa and it is being fomented by evil christian evangelists from the USA. They are reputed to actually preach that the “Gays” should be killed and that that is “gods” will. Yet we still send them millions every year, large amounts of which Gay people in the UK paid in taxes…indeed proportionately more than the breeder population, because they can usually claim all sorts of tax breaks not available or allowed to Gay people. Time it stopped and yesterday wouldn’t be too soon.

  6. Sex toys to PREVENT men to “turn” gay? No dildo’s then I suppose lol:-)

    1. GingerlyColors 17 Mar 2012, 6:33am

There’s only one dildo in Zimbabwe, and it can be found in the Presidential Palace in Harare.

  7. Jamie Taylor 15 Mar 2012, 12:27pm

Let’s just hope they don’t meet her. That would be a guaranteed way of turning anyone gay.

    1. Staircase2 15 Mar 2012, 2:21pm

…I thought we’d already established that you can’t ‘turn someone gay’…

      1. Staircase2 16 Mar 2012, 5:03am

Ooh clearly the PN Comments Board Thought Police have decided we HAVENT decided that…lol

Ooh the shades of grey – plays havoc with your ‘we hate Staircase2′ club dont it…lol Must be a nightmare for you when deciding to down vote me or not….lol

  8. Roberto Franciosa 15 Mar 2012, 12:33pm

Presumably she wants them all nice and hungry for her when they get out.

    Fraggle.

  9. Sex toys will keep men from turning gay? Oh, then lets send them lots of dildoes. That ought to keep the men straight. There’s nothing like a prostate massage to stimulate heterosexual thoughts.

  10. I’m sorry, I know I should be offended but the moment I saw the heading I cried my eyes out with laughter. Go to jail… get a free £60 Fleshlight and fap off all day… sounds like some peoples heaven. ^_^

Seriously though, most rape that occurs in prison is an act of dominance before one of sexual release and is especially not an intimate connection between two people or even a ‘damn he fine’ one night stand. Having sex with another man doesn’t make you gay. Its the attraction romantically as well as physically that does. Not sure how a plastic tube would change that.

    1. Locus Solus 15 Mar 2012, 1:22pm

Was totally thinking they are gonna give them all fleshlights?! Or, one and they all share it due to busget cuts. Hehehe *pervy laugh*

  11. Hello Bobby Mug a bee here speaking to you. You know me better as the most high and mighty who the lion and elephant runs away from dictator for life all round good chap with a big stick. However I was sayin to Sithembile Mlotshwa, or as I call her crazy bitch, Sit hem bile, how can those boys be a thinkin of sex? We is not doin such a good job of torturing them as I was led to believe we are. Zimbabwe not exactly the Lion King is it?

    1. Staircase2 15 Mar 2012, 2:22pm

This is grossly racist and offensive – Pink News please remove

      1. No dear it’s called irony! The fact that in Zimbabwe, government that is run by murderers and scum of the first degree could try to mitigate the daily offence they do to the people by this kind of expression of ‘concern’ is worthy of being reviled and mocked. Take a look at the ‘titles’ that Mugabee and others of his ilk like to give himself before you get your knickers in a twist. There was one of his kind who sat on a gold eagle throne with a diamond encrusted crown on his crazed head. That is sadly the level of madness African dictators run to.

  12. You can’t turn someone gay, the same way we can’t turn this woman intelligent!

    1. jamestoronto 15 Mar 2012, 8:38pm

Exactly! To quote Lady Gaga she was “Born This Way — as stupid as a rock. If there was a way of turning people gay then one would think that the executives of the Great Gay Conspiracy Oganisation would recommend its implementation forthwith. Senator, read something other than those ancient desert gods’ “holy” books or the Junk Science Digest. Senator, you can no more turn a straight person gay (nor a gay person straight for that matter) than I can turn you white or myself black. All the sex toys in the world do not create one’s sexuality but merely enhance what is already there. So if your husband/boyfriend/brother, etc. came out of prison gay, he went in that way — albeit closeted — and prison was his his way of realising it.

  13. Simba Lumbe 15 Mar 2012, 1:57pm

This story has been severely edited from the original publication and has been manipulated to suit the PinkNews agenda! While I am ALL for equal marriage and gay rights, as a movement the LGBTI is misrepresented when papers like PinkNews wantonly select information so as demonize another group.

While the senator DID say that sex toys should be provided to prisoners, it was NOT so that they would be prevented from turning gay as a sexual lifestyle choice. She suggested it as a means of PREVENTING sexual assault prevailant in Zim prisons. Please don’t stoop to the level of peddling lies to make the LGBTI community look like a perpetual victim. You are turning into the very monsters you seek to defeat. Strive to inform, NOT persuade!

    1. Staircase2 15 Mar 2012, 2:15pm

      Is this true, Pink News?

Please give us a link to the original story…

      Thanks

      1. There is the link within the news story on here itself, click the Metro and it will take you to the article in question

    2. Umbridge should perhaps be taken with the Metro then as this is where Pink News were clearly taking the story from

    3. This is what the Sen. actually said. Source is the national newspaper, the Herald:

“Considering that some of the same-sex orientation (homosexuality) come from prisons and when those people are out they then spread that orientation, what measures are you putting in place to make sure that vice is stopped?” Sen Mlotshwa asked Acting Secretary for Justice and Legal Affairs Mr Maxwell Ranga.

“In other countries they provide sex gadgets and they have also constructed rooms where people go and service themselves when the desire arises.”

Looks pretty clear cut to me…..

    4. She said ‘sex gadgets’, not ‘sex toys’. There’s a difference. Ask a sexologist.

And raping other prisoners is vicious.

    5. Comic Genius 16 Mar 2012, 3:56pm

If Pink News is guilty of selective editing this is terrible.

We must remember that the pen/word is mightier than the sword. If this is a gross misrepresentation of her words this is morally reprehensible.

Simba, post your link to this speech.
Pink News, post your defence if one is needed.

Please don’t let me discover that the PN is as bad as a Murdoch owned rag.

  14. Staircase2 15 Mar 2012, 2:14pm

    They’re completely and utterly insane aren’t they…

Debating that giving sex toys will keep them str8; saying its food or sex toys; saying that they can do without food but not without sex….

    they’re all bloody insane!

    1. Paddyswurds 15 Mar 2012, 8:15pm

      @ Staircase…
…. just exactly how did you assess to situation before you made your medical diagnosis of the Zimbabwean people? And you had a cheek to attempt accusing me of racism, a**hole. You have posted nothing but inane criticism of other commentators on this thread and said absolutely nothing intelligent about the actual story. Been taking to much medication, creep?

      1. Staircase2 16 Mar 2012, 4:59am

Actually when I said ‘theyre completely and utterly insane’ I was talking about the people mentioned in the article…

Funny how you judge other people by your own racist standards isnt it…

  15. One group gets equal rights in the world only to oppress another group in the world.

…As someone else said before me, she’s a twat

  16. Jason Brown 15 Mar 2012, 4:34pm

They already have ‘sex toys’, it’s the smaller prisoners. :P

    1. Rudehamster 15 Mar 2012, 4:51pm

      *multiple giggles*

    2. Rape is not funny

      1. GingerlyColors 17 Mar 2012, 6:29am

I’m sorry but I have to agree with James! on this one.

    3. soapbubblequeen 15 Mar 2012, 6:59pm

I’m wetting myself! With laughter I might add. I’m not senile yet! xx

  17. Before commenting, I’d be curious to know more about the use of sex toys in other prisons, possibly to stem the spread of HIV.

Of course, it has been proven that homosexuality is not a learned behavior.

    1. GingerlyColors 17 Mar 2012, 6:28am

      Here’s another anagram for you.
Robert Mugabe – Bum Boer, great!

  18. How moronic. The countries on its knees and they come out with this. When thry should focus on social reform

  19. soapbubblequeen 15 Mar 2012, 7:01pm

She’s obviously never been in a back room has she? She should order in some action man dolls then, mad old baboon woman!

    1. ‘Baboon woman’? Tell me, would you refer to, say, Margaret Thatcher or Germaine Greer as a ‘baboon woman’ or do you reserve that charmless term for black women only?

      1. Ben Foster 15 Mar 2012, 7:54pm

I would call Thatcher somethig much worse.

Mind you, baboons are quite smart primates. Maybe they would be ffended with the comparison.

        1. That’s kind of by the bye. The point is whether you would compare a woman to a primate if she wasn’t African.

          1. Paddyswurds 16 Mar 2012, 12:07pm

            @…
…Sorry Rehan, but a woman is a primate as are you and I, old dear. Is it possible you are infected by the Abrahamic cults too so that you think Humans are something special?

      2. rehan i agree. the world is watching and pink news is so am amatuerish

    2. Staircase2 16 Mar 2012, 5:10am

This is more of the same lame arsed racist kneejerk bollocks that so often fills these comments boards…

Pink News PLEASE reinstate the REMOVE button – and please, in the meantime, REMOVE this racist comment…

  20. Robin Evans 15 Mar 2012, 8:25pm

    Why publish such crap…

    1. jamestoronto 16 Mar 2012, 3:25am

True her words are crap. But the media is correct to stay on top off all these nut-jobs and report what they are saying and/or want to do. Remember “Mein Kampf” was dismissed as the rantings and ravings of a lunatic (which they were) but look what happened when society ignored this “work.” ” Crap” as you put it must be exposed for what it is in its earliest stages or else, as insane as the “crap” sounds it would surely work its way into the mainstream. Show, expose, publicise all these nut-jobs because they will suddenly be in power if we don’t take a stand early.

  21. jamestoronto 15 Mar 2012, 8:46pm

This is coming from a country that has to ostensibly cancel their forthcoming parliamentary and presidential elections because the government is FLAT BROKE. The whole country has been running on empty for a long time now and this is how they preoccupy themselves in government. Get people jobs, put food on the table, get kids to school, bring in decent health care. That’s where you should be worrying.

  22. this bitch is deluded more than likely some brainwashed book has done that. do that mean she has turned black from white then? dont think so educate yourself lady

    1. Staircase2 16 Mar 2012, 5:12am

I have absolutely no idea what youre talking about…

    2. Staircase2 16 Mar 2012, 5:13am

…Eh? I have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about…

    3. Paddyswurds 16 Mar 2012, 12:02pm

      @daz…
…what in blue blazes are you talking, nay raving about. The book isn’t brainwashed. The book does the brainwashing on the deluded people. …I have no idea what you were babbling about turning from white to black but I suspect it is meant to be racist. I suggest you reread your comments before posting then maybe you might post something readable..

  23. Barbarian comments from a barbarian in a barbarian country. “Rhodesia Was Great”!

    1. Yeah and it’s gone forever

      HAH!

  24. Comic Genius 16 Mar 2012, 2:51pm

The best April Fool prank ever.

Well done Pink News. You really had me going for a minute as although my computer tells me it’s the 16th March and it’s coming up to 15:00.hrs. it did have major surgery and my settings clearly need adjusting.

This was hilarious and thanks to whoever dreamt this up, sheer comic genius. Having said that I would rather see some constructive criticism of this morally bankrupt nation. Perhaps this ludicrous article might work as we all know nobody could really say this sort of thing. Don’t we?

Is this a sectionable issue? This is further evidence this is a morally bankrupt nation and I hope history will ask the questions as to how the international community allowed failed to implement regime change. Forgot. Utah in USA.

  25. Comic Genius 16 Mar 2012, 4:05pm

    Have I been edited out?

My comment about read before posting has vanished.

    1. Paddyswurds 16 Mar 2012, 5:13pm

Perhaps you should have been edited out because the post in question makes no sense whatever. You wanna try again.

  26. GingerlyColors 17 Mar 2012, 6:20am

People don’t turn gay, some of us are born this way. We will start worrying when some of us start turning ‘straight’.
