  1. It’s going to be difficult hiding anything from his students! Good luck to him and well done on winning the fight with administrators.

Appears that he is embarrased about the past too, not one of his better decisions, but not complaining while it was making him lots of money!

    1. I don’t wish him luck. Hopefully the decision will be appealed again and he will banned permanently.

      1. Why? What a pointless and mean-spirited remark.

        1. THE FACT IS HERE YOU CAN TYPE THAT THE COMMENTS ARE MEAN SPIRITED ETC… BUT IF YOU HAVE READ MY POST THE ONES THE GET POSTED BECAUSE YOU HOMOSEXUALS NOT FAGS I HOPE I USED THE RIGHT TERM CENSOR AND HIDE POST THAT MAKE YOU LOOK STUPID. THE ONLY THING THIS HOMOSEXUAL NOT FAG HAS DONE IS MAKE THOSE PEOPLE WHO HATE HOMOSEXUALS NOT FAGS GRIP TIGHTER TO THEIR CHOICE TO HOME SCHOOL AND RAISE MORE HUMANS WHO WILL HATE HOMOSEXUALS NOT FAGS, HAHA SERIOUSLY IF THE HOMOSEXUAL TEACHER NOT FAG COULD NOT LOOK AT THE BIGGER PICTURE THEN YOU ARE ALL DOOMED HAHA I NOTICED THAT DOOMED GOT USED A LOT SO I WANTED TO USE IT. ME BEING HETERO I TRY TO HELP YOU HOMOSEXUALS NOT FAGS OUT BE IT FALLS ON DEAF EARS AND BLIND EYES…

    2. Yes, it would be interesting to know why he felt doing porn had been a bad decision.

It seems to me that irrespective of where one stands on the moral issues, it’s the practical issue of standing in front of a classroom on a daily basis that will prove tough for this man. I have little doubt that every class will know about his past life and every class will try to taunt and bully him. He will have to have super skills to retain control.

      And then there’s the patents…

I hope this doesn’t end up being another career decision he regrets. Most of our careers are constrained by past job choices: this case is no different.

  2. Friend of Dorothy 13 Mar 2012, 4:06pm

Teaching is a better profession than porn. I’m glad that Mr Loftis will be able to pursue his true vocational love.

    1. I’m not

  3. Worth adding, I wish I had a teacher that looked like him, school would have been so much more bearable!

  4. Jock S. Trap 13 Mar 2012, 4:28pm

These schools do anything to discriminate but what about the children being taught by the best teachers?
    =
If people can’t see beyond the past are they really the best people to be teachers in the first place?

My answer to that being, NO!

    1. And people who ignore the past are doomed.
He is not good material for a teacher of children.
Maybe he could teach business classes for adults after all he managed and ran company and presumable made money exploiting his men.

      1. people who ignore the past are doomed

If you’re going to mangle a well-known quote for effect, at least do so in a way that makes some sense.

      2. Why is he not good teacher material? Do you know what his qualifications are?

        No, I thought not!

      3. Jock S. Trap 14 Mar 2012, 10:42am

I’d rather he was teaching children than dangerous, bigotted people like you who should Never be allowed round children!

      4. NB is making the assumption that since he was a porn star before, he will inevitably be a porn star again and teach children to be porn stars.
It would seem that NB believes people cannot learn from their mistakes, cannot change. It is a great temptation to say that NB is projecting his/her own inability to change on others but that would be unfair since I do not have personal knowledge of NB.

  5. Not many student have this precious opportunity to learn real life lessons. Good luck and keep on good work.

    1. The lesson being what? Do porn, makes lot of money and one day you can a teacher like me?

      1. Jock S. Trap 14 Mar 2012, 10:44am

If your a teacher, well… I hope someone helps for the poor children in your care. It sounds like they may grow up hateful and nasty like yourself.

      2. Jock S. Trap 14 Mar 2012, 10:46am

If your a teacher… well.. God help those children. Hope someone with decency can help them after you’ve no doubt taught them how to be as hateful and nasty as you.

  6. I have seen him in action on his site and he is pretty hot.
I think he would be very distracting teacher – I for one would daydream and fantasise too much!

  7. As he hasnt (as far as i know) done anything illegal I dont see why they should stop him teaching. Every teacher has a sex life, and just because his is on camera shouldnt matter- half the teachers at my school were no doubt up to all sorts it didnt make a difference how good/bad a teacher they were.

    1. It matters because sex & sexuality is a large part of being human, because he had sex for money, because he took something intimate and special and cheapened it and publicly showed it to all (again for money).

It matters because teachers of children do more than instruct. They are seated in positions of trust, respect and authority. Many of them interact and provide support and counsel to children. Set aside, advice being given with a view of the world where sex is cheap, free love, sleeping around, having risky sex. Having someone seated in a position that demands respect with this under their belt, Please!
“It doesn’t matter he was a porn actor Billy, he’s your teacher show some respect”

As for hasn’t ‘done anything illegal’. True, It is also true that only possession of drugs, not taking drugs is illegal. I wouldn’t want a drug user (from hash to cocaine to heroin) or anyone advocating drugs anymore than I would want Shawn Loftis/Collin O’Neal to teach a child of mind.

      1. What’s wrong with free love and sleeping around?

        1. Of the top of my head, I think of my friend ED, He’s much older than me and all his friend of his generation have died of AIDS for their trouble.
Free love was a hippie idea. Never listen to hippies!
You degrade your self (how ever little or much) and you degrade others.

          1. Free Love is an idea that’s been around, and discussed in English, at least as far back as the time of the French Revolution. Your prejudices (like most) seem rather on the ignorant side.

          2. Jock S. Trap 14 Mar 2012, 10:47am

Your degrading yourself by showing what a vile bigot you are. Trouble is you think you should be around children I say your a danger to them.

      2. Jock S. Trap 14 Mar 2012, 10:45am

Well I guess if you can only see people via sex then the biggest problem is you!

  8. Now if the California school district that fired a school teacher for doing porn (straight) will hire her back! See: http://www.thesmokinggun.com/buster/california-teachers-porn-past-879012

    1. - It’s the thin end of the wedge.
      – A Bennite solution.

  9. For the gods sake, people!

Why are you people so ready to pull every bit of sleazy in under the Gay flag with us. It is support for these kind of cases and activities that causes so much disgust & repulsion from churches, governments and the right wing against us.

He wasn’t fired for being gay. He was fired for having a career in porn.
Please do not be so simple to think that his porn career is a completely separate part of his life, and he’ll be a fine teacher & rolemodel now.

It’s about more than his ability to pass on knowledge of a subject. It is about the character of the man. He would be seated in a position of authority and respect to young children.

At the very least I would want to know this kind of past for any teacher and have the choice of not allowing them to teach any (future) child of mine.

One last thing, it should go with saying, but yet their are so many idiots on earth. These are the views of proud, out gay man.

    1. If you think doing porn makes someone have a worse character than people who don’t that’s fine.

I don’t, but everyone’s entitled to their opinion. If he’s a good teacher that’s all that matters.

I agree it’s not a gay issue – I would feel the same about a teacher who had done straight porn.

      1. jsamuelcjohnson 13 Mar 2012, 10:41pm

I’m a gay teacher. Part of our proffession is setting high moral standards for the young people that we teach.

I would not like to judge him, and I have the upmost respect that he wishes to make a difference to childrens lives.

However I’m not sure I would feel comfortable teaching with him, I feel it some how cheapens my profession.

That said, I have no problem with porn, so should I really be judging him.

Difficult situation, but it’s not a “gay” situation. I have a friend who was asked to leave after pictures of her posing topless for a lads mag were found by some pupils on the internet.

People should think carefully about what they do in life and understand that the decisions they make, may have consequences they do not like

        1. Fair enough. I respect your opinion – although that’s not necessarily to say I agree with it :)

I’m less bothered about whether his colleagues feel he is cheapening their profession to be honest. And I’m not sure I view porn as immoral (what are morals anyway?)

But I understand a lot of parents might feel uncomfortable about it, and if that happens the writing’s on the wall really.

        2. I agree, this is not a gay situation. This is a situation about the stigma of career choice. If he were still doing it while teaching, I think it would make more of a difference than that he’s not doing in that particular career anymore. Everyone’s allowed to have a past. It’s the present and future that matter more.

        3. Jock S. Trap 14 Mar 2012, 10:52am

So he’s had a life, big deal. It make no difference how he teachers.

If anything I would rather someone like him was a teacher. Someone with life experience who probably is unlikely to be judgemental of other while he teaches.

That to me outweights any teachers, trust.

        4. Jock S. Trap 14 Mar 2012, 10:53am

So he’s had a life, big deal. It make no difference how he teachers.

If anything I would rather someone like him was a teacher. Someone with life experience who probably is unlikely to be judgemental of other while he teaches.

That to me out weighs any teachers, trust.

    2. Correction: Had a career in porn. It would probably make more of a difference if he were still doing it. This particular stigma isn’t about his present – it’s about his past. And if something past is not present, it’s past for a reason.

      1. Correction: He was a former porn studio owner, that stared in his own productions and employed others up until last year.

        1. But he’s not doing that anymore, right? I don’t see the problem.

          1. Jock S. Trap 14 Mar 2012, 10:56am

            Exactly, nor do I.

        2. Jock S. Trap 14 Mar 2012, 10:55am

And that stops him being a good teacher because…. what exactly?

          Seriously, how shallow are you?

      2. Jock S. Trap 14 Mar 2012, 10:54am

Indeed, HAD does make a lot of difference.

    3. Jock S. Trap 14 Mar 2012, 10:50am

Er, the man did nothing wrong. It was bigotted adult who took exception and chose to discriminate with no justified reason.

So what if he did porn, that doesn’t mean he can’t be a good trusted teacher.

Stop being such a vile judgemental, creep and let the man get on with his life. We have enough problems with discriminating bigots as it is.

  10. terrible

if he gave all the profit to charity and did a decade working for people or kids in poverty is say ok. he seems like a selfish man who puts his wants first

    1. Jock S. Trap 14 Mar 2012, 10:56am

      Erm, do what now?

Maybe you don’t understand the idea of business.

    2. So now teaching is a selfish profession. What an interesting concept.

  11. Porn is moral turpitude and Gay porn even more so! I am ashamed to watch our country run into the ground with no morals and now we will have porn stars teaching our children! Not mine!

    1. Opinions on porn vary widely in both the straight and gay communities. But saying gay is worse than straight is pure homophobia.

    2. Gay porn even more so

      Explain?

    3. Redlady

I beleive there is more chance of abuse in straight porn

    4. Jock S. Trap 14 Mar 2012, 10:58am

No, you’d rather have dangerous bigots teach your children no doubt.

It’s people like you who should never be allowed to have children with that attitude.

  12. I have to point out one huge oversight in this article.

This guy was not a just a former porn star.
He was a former porn studio owner, that stared in his own productions.

    The moral quagmire thickens.
    -Did he recruit?
-Has he ever encouraged another person to do porn? -and If so how what age were these persons?
-How much money did he make of the backs of young men ‘working for’/’exploited by’ him?
-Did he pimp some of these men as prostitutes to clients or friends?

Do I hear ‘that’s an unfair question”, “why would I ask him that”. Given the culture of the porn industry, drug use & prostitution aka rent boys or escorts.
If your thinking ‘no they’re porn stars not prostitutes’
    click http://tinyurl.com/757ezzd (an adult link).

    What else is being overlooked?
What else do Shawn Loftis/Collin O’Neal supporters here need to read before they agree he’s shouldn’t be allowed to teach children.

      1. You seem to have a major interest in this field.

        1. Jock S. Trap 14 Mar 2012, 11:03am

Over interest me thinks borderline obsessive.

          1. Ain’t it always so?!

      2. The porn industry in the US if very heavily regulated. Actors have to be listed and regularly tested for HIV.

I find it doubtful that any other actors who starred in the films his company produced were doing so under duress, more of their own free will.

      3. Jock S. Trap 14 Mar 2012, 11:02am

Your prejudice speaks volumes and Very loud!

      4. @NB — this isn’t evidence. You do understand that don’t you ?

    1. NB

why do you think prostitutes or I prefer sex workers are less than port stars?

sex workers are human too you know

    2. Jock S. Trap 14 Mar 2012, 11:01am

Still don’t get your point. How exactly did this stop him being a good teacher?
      =
Maybe you should stop being so stereotypical and see people for people. Teacher come in all sorts good and bad and I can guarantee that they’ll be people much, much worse than this innocent man who will be accepted to teach enough though they do so with utter disrespect for children and others.

    3. @NB — is there anything to your post other than questions about what might happen ? Do you have any evidence to substantiate them ?

I mean it’s like my asking Did NB interfere with an intoxicated goat ?. I have no reason to think it.

      1. David Waite 20 Apr 2012, 6:06pm

Baaaah! Baaaaaahh! Baah!! Baaahh!!! [International Goat response which translates "Neither of us was intoxicated! Besides, NB and I are only platonic friends! (IG is a very succinct language)]

  13. GingerlyColors 14 Mar 2012, 6:58am

Surely that guy did not do anything illegal by starring in those porn-films, especially if the films depicted consensual sexual acts with other adults. As long as it does not impact on the quality of his work as a teacher then why should his employers take an interest in what he does outside work.
As for the films he starred in the children he teaches as should all underage people shouldn’t be watching them.

    1. Oh my god what is wrong with you people it’s like a pathological inability t to rationally assess any situation regarding gay people.

If the man had done something to show that he has moved on fair enough but it seems he has gone from pornographer to school teacher.

If he wasn’t ashamed he would have told them up front.

      It stinks

      1. Jock S. Trap 14 Mar 2012, 11:18am

I still don’t get why a pornographer cannot make a good teacher?

Does it change his ability to be able to communicate and teach… coz I can’t see how.

        Please enlighten.

        1. For me it has something to do with credibility. To be a good teacher you have to be respected. I’m not sure what he got up to but I have an idea andseeing your teacher doing a money shot may make it difficult when it comes to discipline.

  14. Why the employment discrimination ?

Lets face it – porn is only acting. Nothing more and nothing less.

    Many actors are also teachers.

    1. Indeed

    2. Jock S. Trap 14 Mar 2012, 11:22am

Exactly and many make excellent teachers Just as I am sure this chap did. It was other that chose to discriminate.

  15. If I had his looks and body I would NOT be wasting my time in some school teaching snot nose kids to wipes their asses.

  16. Can we get a bit realistic here? As someone said, everyone has a past. I was suprised abt his last remark though which suggested shame: wouldn’t a RATIONAL person say that they made what was a financially rational decision for them, at that age? It’s not illegal..

Also: don’t you predict we’re going to see a lot more of this, from both sexes, as college education becomes more and more unaffordable? Esp in US, where debts to the federal govt are never written off.. Welcome to late-stage capitalism folks..

    1. I smell a hippie, and nothing a hippie says right or wrong can be taken at face value.

      1. A “hippie”? Good God, has your vocabulary really not developed since the 60s?

      2. David Waite 20 Apr 2012, 6:13pm

My 70 year old nose smells a sanctimonious, self-hating bigot whose putative gayness adds a whiff of gangrene. Medic! STAT!!

  17. I would love to have a teacher like that … :)

  18. HELLO PEOPLE AND THIS IS MY VOICE ON THE MATTER
1. Tempestras 30 Mar 2012, 1:09pm

and typing in all caps is meant to help you how?

  19. Tempestras 30 Mar 2012, 1:05pm

I dont understand why a teaching board would get upset over this. Yes, porn isnt the greatest industry to have worked in, but hes not doing it anymore! Get over it! The bottom line is, if hes a good teacher then let him teach. And I have to agree with some of the rest of the comments here, If I had of had a teacher like this guy at my school, I certainly would have paid more attention!! :)

  20. Robert in S. Kensington 1 Apr 2012, 4:14pm

I bet no heterosexual teacher committing adultery would have been sacked. What people do outside their jobs is nobody’s business and is irrelevant.

  21. Porn is good and healthy(when safe). Let s not be prude!!! Collin o Neal definitely seemed to enjoy his job. Why pretend now it was a bad decision????

  22. They just don’t want to pay him the money he deserves. Simple :P
