  1. Maybe it sold out *because* of the protests!

=^@..@^= What ever the reason, this is very cool news.

    1. the joys of the streisand effect eh? :D

    2. GingerlyColors 3 Mar 2012, 7:23am

You get a load of idiots kicking up a fuss about something and calling for it to be banned, you end up with the opposite effect. Remember Frankie Goes To Hollywood’s ‘Relax’ when Radio 1 banned it? Or the furore over Salman Rushdie’s ‘Satanic Verses’? These clowns just end up giving free advertising for the products they want to ban. I hope that Kevin and Clay enjoy many happy years together.

    3. FranklyBewildered 3 Mar 2012, 7:58am

exactly my thought! no idea what this comic is. must be American, but good show anyway.

  2. ““A trip to the toy store turns into a premature discussion on sexual orientation”

    No it doesn’t.

I was out with a friend and his 6 year old, and he thought my husband was my brother.

I told him he wasn’t my brother, he replied “He is like your wife?” with a giggle,
“Yes, some people fall in love with a girl, and some fall in love with a boy.”
“Ok” he replied then promptly moved on talking about his toys

Young children need no more information that this.

Adults make it way too complicated.

    1. an excellent point – well made.
Bigots beget bigots, it’s like dog owners, if the owner is nervous around certainly people the dog will sense it and appear to be the same.

    2. Spanner1960 3 Mar 2012, 3:00pm

““This is the last place a parent would expect to be confronted with questions from their children on topics that are too complicated for them [the children] to understand.”

Tell me, what was complicated about that?

      1. Essentially, what that says is: the parent doesn’t understand the topic and/or refuses to discuss it, for fear of having his/her opinions or belief system challenged by anyone under their own roof.

I’d imagine that having to explain to one’s kids that one is a fundamentalist bigot can get pretty complicated. Especially nowadays when many kids are getting increasingly more enlightened about civil rights than previous generations.

  3. “We want our children to have the best chance possible of living in a moral society.” So being gay is “immoral”?? I just cannot fathom the depths of the ignorance of these people

  4. “Issues of this nature are being introduced too early and too soon, which is becoming extremely common and unnecessary.”

Kids need to be told about all forms of love; not just heterosexuality. They need to be told, early on, that some boys will fall in love with boys and some girls will fall in love with girls. its quite simple.

Stop dilly dancing about traditional values and move with the times.

  5. What a load of old hogwash from the homophobes. It’s important that children are introduced to the idea that there are gay people and same sex relationships from as early an age as possible. What’s needed is MORE representations of same sex relationships in children’s stories, TV, toys etc.

    1. I love that xD

    2. The link doesn’t work anymore … homophobia from the facebook moderators .. surely not !!!

      1. Sorry guys I now realise that it was probably the One Million Mums who removed their facebook page and not the facebook mods. My apologies

  6. Kevin and Clay were fiances and now they’re spouses and husbands, they are not now and they never were “partners”. Marriage equality means we get to be married spouses, like every other married couple. There is a tinge of self-loathing in calling married gay people “partners”, a word that would never be applied to married heterosexuals.

    1. I know a girl that calls her husband her “life partner” indeed it’s silly and she dose get the “dose that mean your a lesbian?” once in a while. But I admire her in doing so.

she dose so from a spectral perspective along with the idea that we are only in this life for a short time and move on. So who we share our love with is our partner for the time being.

debating the semantics of a word within perspective is only important as one’s interpretation- for no one has the exact same understanding of a word, for the word it self has no inherent objective existance, words are dependent on the meaning we give them, and interpret them with our consciousness.

    2. Don’t be silly. Partner is as good a word as any and is used ubiquitously by straight people. Self-loathing? Relax!

  7. Seems to me everything ‘One Million Moms; protests against turns to gold, they seem ton have an inadvertent midas touch. Is the ‘universe’ trying to tell them something?

  8. Once again the homophobes project their screw-ups onto children (sadly sometimes managing to screw them up as well) – the mere existence of l&g people, no matter how loving and committed our relationships are, is somehow a terrible corrupting threat to them. The usual destructive rationale for their own hatred and ignorance. Small children are not homophobic – they are brainwashed into it by nutjobs like these ‘moms’.

    1. David Myers 6 Mar 2012, 11:15am

Institutionalized homophobia from hateful families and peer pressure institutional homophobia in our schools. It all has to stop before we can stop queer bashing.

  9. Those pathetic, bigoted neanderthals are a joke. They are on the wrong side of history and society. It’s pitiful how they insist on fighting against the rising tide of acceptance.

    1. GingerlyColors 3 Mar 2012, 7:19am

Please do not insult our evolutionary cousins, now sadly extinct. I bet even they had better standards than those moralistic bible-bashers.

  10. Christians are always stopping people from doing what they want to do. One million mom’s is just another one of their propaganda mouths that spew their hate in a way that only Christians mothers can do. Sad they use women who are made second class citizens by their own religion and on that they keep their mouths shut when the men want to pass laws that stop women from having rights to their own bodies, if they want to be slaves to their one million Christian dad’s then so be it but keep your religion out of the lives of people who do not want you Christian hate and misery brought on by you who push it on others.

    1. David Myers 6 Mar 2012, 11:18am

I am encouraged and believe that a lot of women of the political right are starting to see what their true place is in the minds of their male politcal right colleagues and husbands and they are increasing, not finding it amusing.

  11. American Family Association is a grossly immoral hate group. They pervert the very notion of morals.

  12. Robin Evans 3 Mar 2012, 12:58am

“One Million Moms says it is “searching for one million moms who are willing to join the fight for our children. We want our children to have the best chance possible of living in a moral society.””

Yes so do I but I don’t want a bunch of bigots and homophobes to make up the moral code…….

    1. Spanner1960 3 Mar 2012, 3:03pm

I wonder exactly how many they have so far.
And equally I wonder how many Moms are out there who despise these warped old hags for spreading hatred and lies.

  13. When I was a kid, Archie comic books had advertisements for ‘lifelike’ female sex dolls, vibrators…and x-ray specs on the back covers. I was exposed to much more than what these fools are worried about! haha

  14. johnny33308 3 Mar 2012, 7:11am

A month ago when I last checked out the One Million Moms Face Book page, they were about 975,000 members short of their number name. They are an arm of the American Family Association, a designated Hate Group. And BTW, they are no longer on Face Book….it is most likely they removed themselves after so much negative publicity since FB rarely (if ever) takes down the pages belonging to hate groups like the OMM page. So we don’t have to put up with their venom on FB any longer, but there are many thousands of other such hate groups who still have FB pages, sadly.

  15. GingerlyColors 3 Mar 2012, 7:16am

I wonder how long it is before the Beano or Dandy do something similar. D.C. Thomson take note!

    1. Mr. Ripley's Asscrack 4 Mar 2012, 1:48pm

Ha – you must be joking! DC Thomson are right wing protestants!

  16. Adapt the onemillion mums wording to a pro-gay stance and email to Toys R Us:…
I’ve just done it adding a bit about the recent spate of suicides of gay high school and Uni students in the USA
and calling on ToysRUs to ignore the homophobes….

  17. Spanner1960 3 Mar 2012, 2:58pm

“Mommy? Isn’t it cool these guys are getting married?”

“Shut up dear. I’ve told you before, it’s complicated. Now go read your Bible.”

  18. “The American group One Million Moms’ protests … ”

Can anybody pls explain to me, what’s wrong with you ppl.
The last thing i’ve heard is, that one million moms are two interns of the FRC. Since when does this qualify as GROUP?

  19. Ben Foster 4 Mar 2012, 11:17am

Even if they HAD 1 million ‘moms’ the population of the USA is 311,591,917. why should they speak for all those other people?

    1. FranklyBewildered 4 Mar 2012, 2:31pm

go on, you looked up that long number, didn’t you?

  20. Mr. Ripley's Asscrack 4 Mar 2012, 2:03pm

So Toys R Us don’t sell Barbie dolls, et al – the epitome of heterosexist plastic sh!te?! The 1M Moms must never have let any of their kids sit in front of the television where depictions of heterosexual relationships abound.

Archie comics (really never heard of it!) but good for them in there honest depiction of what it is to be gay, ie. nothing really to get so het up about! Pun intended.

Exactly what fight are they fighting (for their children)? Anything that involves explaining how the world really is to their children? For such enlightened people they seem to be just plain old bigots who seek to damage others credibility ‘for the sake of the kids’! I wonder how many of these kids are mentally damaged by the hate-speak coming from the mouths of the cathole mothers.

    1. FranklyBewildered 4 Mar 2012, 2:31pm

since when don’t they sell barbie dolls? The gender stereotypes are all there at Toys-r-us – pinks fluffy stuff for girls and guns and soldier dolls for boys. wow betide the kid that wanders into the wrong aisle. He/she will be off to therapy right away.

But Archie is going the right direction at least.

  21. ” We want our
children to have the best chance possible
of living in a moral society.”

Well in that case, stop teaching them that it’s ok to hate people and criminalize them for something that’s outside their control. That’s the real immorality.

  22. I grew up as a kid in the States and I read Archie sometimes though I much preferred Spiderman and others. Archie is total Americana hogwash and soap opera drivel, but I guess American kids can do worse getting a moral compass. Better from Archie than from their parents apparently. Good for them to introduce a gay character and having him get married.

As for these ‘moms’… any toy store is a gay kid’s nightmare, half is pink and half is blue — talk about heterosexual stereotyping, but obviously to these moms that’s not too complicated to explain… because no explanation is necessary – d*icks to the right, p*ssies to the left. Life isn’t two-toned. Sad, really.
