Actors Kevin Bacon, Chris Colfer and John C Reilly join a swelling number of celebrities signing up to star in Dustin Lance Black’s Proposition 8 play next month.

Glee stars Jane Lynch and Matthew Morrison were the last sign-ups for the one-night-only Los Angeles production of Dustin Lance Black’s play about the ballot.

George Clooney and Martin Sheen were early announcements for the production.

The special performance will also feature Jamie Lee Curtis, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Yeardley Smith and George Takei.

Proposition 8, which instituted a ban on gay marriage by public vote, was ruled to have violated the due process and equal protection clauses of the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution.

This month, the ballot measure was confirmed to be unconstitutional in an appeal.

The show, titled simply ’8′, revisits the measure which banned gay couples from marrying in California and its subsequent reversal by Judge Vaughn Walker in 2010.

The play will run for one night only on 3 March, with proceeds going to the American Foundation for Equal Rights.
