Plus ca change, unfortunately. At least his comments are not acceptable to a mainstream French political party.

I thougght as much, the bloody roman cult had its finger in all this. The government should go after them too for promoting hatred and using a politician to do their dirty work.

Vanneste is a nasty individual who should never have been permitted to remain in the UMP. He is undoubtedly on l’extrême droite.

He should be prosecuted for his lies on the deportation of gays from France – a shameful and disgraceful part of French history and the Pétain regime, which no doubt he would have supported.

He should hold not any office in the Republic French. Even the FN – the Front Nationale, can you believe it, has condamnéd his comments – with the numero 2 of the FN, Louis Aliot, telling Vanneste to re-read his history books and calling it “une vrai bêtise”, which is still an understatement.

Expulsion is not enough. One must prosecute for the lies about the deportations and the occupation and expel permanently Vanneste from holding any public office in the Republic.

That is unnecessarily gratuitous. Many French Catholics risked their lives trying to hide Jews and others that the Germans wanted. The Church also stood against the evil communist regimes.

          @DeVilliers…
….That doesn’t give them carte blanche to treat gay people as sub human. The sooner these deist fantasists learn to live and let live the better for all mankind.
Thorough prosecution and censure is the only action that will make these bigots sit up and notice that the world has, thankfully, left them far behind to stew in a cess pit of homophobia and paedophilia of their own making.

So did Rohr, gay and at the top of the Nzai party. That does not justify suggesting all gays supported fascism.

  5. Vanneste needs to have his head screwed on right.

That won’t happen until he distances himself from reactionary catholicism.

  6. He also tried to block the bill which gave us Brits legal recognition in France by introducing his own bill to get rid of the change introduced by the Greens and Socialists senators.

He hates gays absolutely, unlike the majority of the UMP party but even they can’t bear to treat us equally to straights.

He’s worse than the whole of the UMP party admittedly but he certainly was one of them and has been for a very long time and there are a plenty more like him in the UMP party.

Here’s hoping Sarkozy gets booted out and replaced by Hollande!

You will wait a long time. Since the founding of the Fifth Republic do you know how many socialists have been president?

      One. The criminal President Mitterrand.

The left talk and talk but never do.

      Post a reply →
      1. Corrupt – unlike the previous UMP President who now claims to be too gaga to face corruption charges?

The left are the only ones fighting for true equality for LGBT folk in France. It was the left that fought for the bill which got our British CP recognised in France. It’s the left that are fighting for gay marriage. I’m assuming that you live in the UK and you may be in a British CP but if the UK brings in gay marriage, your marriage won’t be recognised in France. Mine will be, but yours won’t since you are French and the French UMP don’t want French gays to be equal.

I’m amazed at your obvious distain of the Socialist party, a party that would give you equality in France. I’m shocked that you’d prefer (for whatever selfish reasons those may be) to stick with a party that continues to treat you, and other French and foreing gays, as second class citizens.

        Thanks Mate!

My disdain is at their utter inability to win the Presidential election. There has been only one socialist president in the whole life of the Fifth Republic. One. There is no point in talking if you never win the real power.

Don’t be shocked – I’m not sure if that is just affectation or if it is genuine. I would have voted for DSK but look what has happened to him – a multimillionaire now revealed as a womanising, disgraced bully. To top it off, the socialists opposed the referendum for the European constitution for no good reason other than internal power play, being hopelessly divided.

My disdain at the socialist party is at their lack of national interest and ability to win. They even let the FN candidat Le Pen get through to the second round against Chirac by dividing themselves and collapsing their vote. When the socialists fall, the FN advances.

So do not tromp yourself that the left are for equality or are the only ones. They have talked much and achieved little.

          1. i’m afraid inability to win elections says more about mentality of french people (that are unwilling to elect a party courting equality) then politics of the left.

            Kane,

There is a contradiction between complaining about people making crass and homophobic comments about “gays” as if we were one single unit devoid of individuality and then slandering a whole nation on the same basis, as you have done.

The reason for their lack of success is their own fault. Like the conservative party being unelectable after 1997 an the labour party being unelectable now. The reason Le Pen reached the second round was not because all the French are racist. It is because the left preferred to indulge themselves in having over ten different parties for which to vote, splitting their vote and letting Le Pen through the cracks. That is wholly the fault of the left in preferring the purity of their individual positions instead of uniting around an electable leader.

The dude is so sexist that he forgot that for one man to get together with a guy who looks like he used to, the other guy’s got to get together with a guy who doesn’t. What a surprise, an old-fashioned French conservative who only thinks about one side of the equation in bed. The other person is an accessory or a toy I guess.
