They live in &^%$ing Oklahoma. The only difference between that and Iran is the choice of backwards religion.

“We recognize the decision to disallow same-sex entries is highly charged. We also opted not to accept YA [Young Adult] entries. We do not condone discrimination against individuals of any sort.”
Except young and gay people apparently?
Does anyone read these statements that get released?

It’s very easy to hold to entirely contradictory positions when being religiously motivated to all things homopobic. On the one hand they hate all things gay, but on the other hand the love the sinner, allegedly, so that’s ok then, because they are not homophobic, just “people of faith” upholding their “beliefs”. Delusional F OOOK Wits.

So rather than have to read a gay themed story, they shut down the competition? It’s as infantile as the bishops that close Catholic adoption agencies rather than treat gay people with dignity and respect.

“It is unfortunate that she has become the object of personal ridicule and abuse”.

Unfortunate, but perhaps she’ll learn from it.

  10. “We recognize the decision to disallow same-sex entries is highly charged.”

Highly charged?? Do they still not get it? It’s DISCRIMINATORY not highly charged. Just as it would be if they’d banned interracial romances.

Why do they find it so hard to understand?

  11. “…she has become the object of personal ridicule and abuse. ”
Yes, her own personal abuse and who’s the ridiculous??? because saying “it is just too much” is a perfectly reasonably argument right?

Wow! So “just too much” is a valid reason for bigotry? I did not know….thanks for letting me know about this simple excuse for doing the WRONG thing!

  13. Somebody had better let we dedicated slashers know that homosexual romance and erotica is ‘just too much’…
    Father Ted:
“So rather than have to read a gay themed story, they shut down the competition?”
They learned that little trick from Itawamba Agricultural High in Mississippi; at least they didn’t send all the homoerotica writers to a ‘fake’ competition just down the road, I suppose…
