    Congrats to Washingtonians of all ages, skin colors and income brackets. Logic is coming to your state’s laws.

  2. Congrats, Washington :) As the daughter of a Seattle-ite mom, I am proud that my roots lie there.

    And you know what, even if it goes to ballot, let Washington be the first state to endorse marriage equality by public acclaim!!

  3. Yay! Maybe one day england will follow Americas example, and have gay marriage equality… until then… i guess i’ll have to settle for civil union xx

    1. The point is, you shouldn’t have to settle for something second class! Let’s continue our fights here in the UK for marriage equality. x

    2. Don’t forget naomi that even though our CPs are very much “separate but equal” they are at least equal. Same-sex marriages in Washington state will not still not be recognised by the federal US government. Therefore even with our current second-class status we’re still better off than our US counterparts.

      Besides, we are winning the argument over here too. Once Scotland has marriage equality the rest of the UK will quickly follow.

  5. The real fight is that the Mormon and Catholic bigots who brought us proposition 8 will fight a referendum to overturn this.

    @naomi…
    ….Unfortunately Americas example is to still ban Marriage Equality. However the number of States bucking the Federal trend is increasing ….slowly but increasing. It is unlikely that England alone will enact Marriage Equality as this is not the norm for enacting legislation of this type in the UK.The United Kingdom comprising Scotland & North of Ireland (for now), Wales and England.

      @naomi….
      …….btw Washington in this case refers to the State of Washington located on the north west coast of the US, not Washington DC the seat of the Federal Government of the United States, located on the South East coast.
