The Christian religion must be bigger there in the USSR than I thought to force a gay man to marry or is it just the Russian propaganda machine trying to hide gays?
Which ever both stink of more madness when both know that they use gay as a propaganda trick to make less of people who are not gay and who they do not like. It seems their evil ways are catching up with them, could the CIA be next? Proof sooner or later what goes around comes around. Time to come out of the closet people.

    1. Homophobia does not just rest in religion or secret services!!!

How bizarre your thought processes appear to be!
      ——
As it is, in this case there should be consideration by the other Skyteam partners (KLM, Air France, Delta, Kenya Airways, Air Europa, Aeromexico etc) as to whether they wish to be associated with the insidious homophobia of Aeroflot …

Also, the Constitution of Russia prohibits discrimination on such grounds as sex, race, nationality, language, origin, property status or job position, residence, attitude towards religion, views, (non)membership in social associations and other circumstances. Whilst not specifying orientation it does mention other circumstances which can by implication refer to other illegitimate discrimination. Discrimination can be remedied under both civil law and the criminal law in Russia. In terms of employment law, most discrimination cases form precedent as historically few are pursued.

That’s some crazy mess right there. Doesn’t look very good on The Mother Land. I’m sure there is some, “In Soviet Russia….” joke in there somewhere.

Following the 1917 Revolution, Vladmir Lenin decriminalized homosexuality as part of his social reforms. Not only did Stalin recriminalize it in 1934 considering it to be a form of decadence associated with western capitalism, he also banned religion and closed many of the churches. It was only in the Kruschev and Breshnev era that some tolerance was shown towards Christianity. Church attendence in the USSR’s final years was higher than in Britain and has significantly increased since then with the both the Russian Orthodox Church and the ex-Communists being opposed to the Russian gay community.

I noticed the airline logo still has the hammer and sickle in it. Surely some mistake?

Also, surely the airline must know it has loads of gay stewards, just like all the others.

    1. And what’s with the Romanov flag?

    2. It looked like this since forever and their code has been SU since the times when AFL used to be state-run and the only carrier. Why should they change the logo when they’ve had it for God knows how long? They’ve changed the livery and that’s enough (besides, it’s much prettier now than it used to be back then), but I don’t think they should change the logo after having it for almost 90 years. It would be ridiculous.

P.S. – And no, I won’t stop flying AFL even after this. It’s really sad they felt the need to threaten their employee like this, and it’s twice as sad since I know several gay AFL stewards who prefer to keep their sexuality a secret. Still, I like AFL and I believe that gradually things will get better. The airline changed to the better a lot in the last decade, so I believe it will keep changing.

Sounds like that Russia hasn’t shaken off it’s Communist past where homosexuality was banned because it was seen as some form of western decadence. Why should someone be forced into a loveless, arranged marriage in order to keep his job which he is probably good at anyway – especially when his profession is gay dominated. I will be sticking with Ryanair – at least their safety record is better than Aeroflot’s.

Why the hell is the Aeroflot Logo got a Hammer and sickle? Didn’t the Homophobic USSR end 20 years ago?

It’s not the best solution, but if he wishes, he can get off an international flight and ask for asylum. Under the UN definition, he would qualify, although he would certainly need help with the process.

  7. Has all the hallmarks of a central discrimination game… Dubai recently gained its first woman train driver… So what if the steward was gay? Does it matter? Not one iota! He is doing his job for трахает ради!!! Why does his sexuality have to come into it?

Oh no shock horror!! We’ve got a gay steward on our flight, Quick, get him married!

If I was this guy, I’d sue for blatant discrimination… But this being Russia, ебать knows what’ll happen or how long it would take!
