Gay club night QueerlyOut will be celebrating the 60th birthday of gay rights campaigner Peter Tatchell with a fundraiser on Thursday 26 January.

Door proceeds will be donated to the Peter Tatchell Foundation to continue the valuable work that Peter does, without a salary.

The drinks evening will follow Peter Tatchell Day on 25 January, when PinkNews.co.uk will be looking back at the contribution he has made to the fight for equal gay rights and human rights in general across the UK and abroad.

Oh the night of 26 January, London’s largest LGBT student night will have a special campaigning theme with some of the most memorable Peter Tatchell protests signs on the walls.

Peter Tatchell will be in attendance and will make a short speech.

Sam Feller, co-founder of QueerlyOut said: “Peter is an inspiration to many of us in the LGBTI community. He has fought for decades for the rights we enjoy today. He continues to fight and we’re happy to be doing a small bit to help the magnificent work he does.”

Peter Tatchell said: “Huge appreciation to Sam, Ben and the QueerlyOut team for hosting this fundraiser for my LGBT human rights work, it’s very generous. As well as my 60th birthday, I’m also celebrating 45 years of campaigning. The money raised will help me carry on the fight against homophobia in football, against the ban on same-sex marriage and against those countries that still criminalise LGBT people and have the death penalty for gay sex.”

QueerlyOut runs every Thursday 9-3 at Escape, 10 Brewer Street, London W1F 0SE.
