  1. Has Andrew Stone just inned himself?
I always just assumed he was gay, and that any passing resemblance to a straight guy was relative due to sharing screentime with Louie Spence.

    1. Hes always claimed he was straight. I dont doubt it, how many gay men are THAT delusional and lacking in self awareness. He really thinks hes a multi-talented star.

  2. Not really into Big Brother, but might dip in occasionally to see how Gareth Thomas is doing …

  3. Channel five should stop beating around the bush and just fill the house with prostitutes next year- they are getting close to that as it is with the glamour-model heavy house…

    1. You seem disdainful of prostitutes. They provide a legimate service you are you a mysogonist?

      1. no, i have nothing whatsoever about them- they are honest about what they do and provide a legitimate service. What im saying is that channel five has clearly filled the house with desperate fame hungry nobodies (and that includes some of the men) hoping they will spend entire time walking around in swimwear and shag*ing while hiding behind the light entertainment facade of BB

        1. I’m glad it’s not just me… the definition of celebrity has become ever more elastic, it now includes people who are related to celebrities, had affairs with celebrities and people who featured in a centrefold in Nuts magazine.
I used to do menial work for an animation firm with stuff on the BBC, and I’ve briefly met a couple of celebrities in the process. Am I a celebrity?

  4. I thought Gareth Thomas had a career outside rugby.

If he’s already stooping to Celebtrity Big Brother, he must really be finding it hard to get work .

Celebrity Big Brother is the dregs of reality television.

If he needed to maintain a public profile or build a career outside rugby then surely something like Strictly has a bit more dignity.

Times must be pretty desperate if he already needs to do CBB.

I think the producers begged Gareth Thomas to take part so they could have the crazy contrast between him and the dancer one.

It is quite an intriguing contrast isn’t it. Comparing everything about them~

  5. GAreth seems to be turning into a caricature. From legitimate sportsman to a dancing bear, who ever is advising him needs to be sacked

    1. ‘Dancing bear’

      See my comment above.

he is not even a ‘dancing bear’ – that would involve him on Strictly – which while it is a tacky show has a lot more credibility than CBB.

  6. I love the way Romeo is supportive of Andrew Stone coming out as straight.

  7. God but you lot are quick to judge. It will be nice to see Gareth bust a few stereo typical idea’s that BB viewers have. So, just becasue he is on BB MUST be an indication that he needs the money…WE ALL need the money honey and Stricvtly is hardly a step up from BB. Would I see my soul for the money…damm right, but then I am honest about it no doubt you have much higher morals than I have! So leave the poor guy alone or is it too much to ask that if you like him, you support him. Haters…ya gotta love em cause they will always be there and be bitter!

    1. Strictly (or even Dancing on Ice) is indeed a LOT classier than CBB, in that they are entertainment shows where the whole point is to learn a skill and to win a prize based on talent or effort.

CBB is for the dregs of ‘celebrity ‘.

Natasha Giggs is ‘famous’ solely for f***ing her famous brother in law.

And this is the type of person Gareth Thomas wants to be associated with.

      1. @dAVID

        *roll drum*

        I ***ENTIRELY*** agree with you

Whilst I would rather see good drama and quality television … If I have to watch reality TV I would much prefer Strictly or DOI (and must admit they are guilty pleasures!) as they require an element of skill learning, ability, development and genuine entertainment …

CBB is dross and meaningless dross at that

Why can’t I rid myself of the paranoid thought that shows like Big Brother are a government plot to get us used to the idea of being spied upon every moment of our lives?

    1. Trust me your not the only one lol

    2. It’s on Channel 5.

Which means very few people will see it.

  9. Methinks the lady doth protest too much.

what a rotten selection…celebs? no way…except of course Gareth

  10. You are entitled to your opinion David but remember that that’s what it is…an opinion, no more or less valid then anyone else’s. Its not based on FACT though, your idea of ‘classiness’ may not be the same as mine or anyone else’s. I am prepared to let Gareth be the master of his own judgements and support him in them.. BTW. I don’t watch B.B or Strictly.

    1. What is based on FACT though is that both Strictly Come Dancing and Dancing on Ice involve ‘stars’ learning new skills and being marked on their talent, effort or improvement. Celebrity Big Brother involves people sitting in a cage 24 hours a day and being filmed.

I just think that CBB is beneath him.

I mean Natasha Giggs? What has that hooker ever done to earn the title of celebrity, except to f*** her brother in law?

What the hell is Gareth doing on this rubbish?? It is absolutely the dregs. I thought he was going to carve out something rather more socially aware and useful than this piling of steaming sh12. He is in danger of doing himself serious reputational damage.

I am still shocked & horrified that still one of best & well known actors ever Michael Madsen & gay welsh rugby footballer Gareth Thomas are both going into this rubbish. imho I think all the rest are complete & utter losers. I think they both should know better especially Michael Madsen (whose last two recent & decent films were Strength & Honour & The Bleeding & whose is still making films as we speak) who is just still too well known & cool to be in there. imho I think personally he should decide to leave & walk out of the house with dignity. but tbh I do highly respect & admire still well known & cool actor Corey Feldman for doing Dancing on Ice thought (whose last pretty decent film was 2010’s Lost Boys 3: The Thirst). but tbh Gareth Thomas should also better & leave with head held high too. :-)

Gareth must be bored with retirement to have taken up BB. What a waste of his time. And i especially dislike the way that programme always has a token gay in the mix.

  15. Very disappointed that Gareth would want to be a part of the desperate publicity seekers scrambling to be a part of this circus. Hardly a credible career move after years at the top of Welsh rugby league…

  16. Jock S. Trap 7 Jan 2012, 11:08am

    Oh dear… enough already.

  17. TheLizzie12 7 Jan 2012, 9:25pm

I am soooo tired of gays who make a profession from being gay, like Gareth Thomas & Brian Paddick. They were bold when they ‘came out’ but all these appearances on badddd reality TV shows is embarrassing. It wouldn’t be so bad if the media – inc broadsheets, TV & radio – could find some new gay voices from our community with some fresh and interesting perspectives on a wide range of topics?

    1. Jock S. Trap 10 Jan 2012, 3:13pm

Do they make a profession from being gay? Or do they just do stuff and have people like you label them just because they happen to be gay? Can’t think many actually think and say oh I’m gay so I’ll do it. More likely that like everyone else doing these shows they do it for anything other than their own sexuality.

  18. I have never seen any episodes of Big Brother, so I tuned in especially to to see Gareth Thomas and learn more of a person who I only know by name in rugby or articles printer here on PN.

Not for one second would I hesitate to agree with most comments here that it hardly seems like an ideal showcase to participate in given the personalities I have seen in 3 episodes so far.

If the drama and scandals that brought the other “Celebrities” to fame are any example, Gareth being true to himself, honest and forthright to his housemates I think he might actually have an advantage as showing gays as a positive role model with integrity others in the house may lack.

Every little helps, and if he wins favor or acceptance of people who might other wise be homophobic or not have wathed I believe his participation on a less than stellar show can make him stand tall and proud with good PR value. From what I have seen and dialogue I have heard so far I give his participation a big thumbs up!
