12:43 PM — Londoners set a new world record on World AIDS Day 2011 for the most HIV tests administered in 8 hours. 467 tests were taken in the joint record attempt by 56 Dean Street clinic and G-A-Y, at the G-A-Y Bar on Old Compton Street.

10:19 AM — Activists have delivered a copy of a 60,000-strong global petition addressed to the Nigerian President, urging him not to sign in new laws that target gays. At the end of last month, the Nigerian Senate voted through a bill criminalising gay relationships, with prison sentences of up to 14 years.

3:11 PM — Peter Tatchell has called on priests and congregations to reject the Church of England's ban on civil partnerships in their churches, as new regulations allowing come into effect today. The Marriages and Civil Partnerships (Approved Premises) (Amendment) Regulations 2011 come into force today, and lift the ban on places of religious worship holding civil partnership ceremonies.

2:23 PM — Neil Patrick Harris has apologised publicly for using the term "tranny" on television. The gay actor, 38, who currently appears on the popular US sitcom How I Met Your Mother, had been inhaling a gas which lowers voices.
