Thank you Stephen Gray, Jessica Green, and all the other Pink News writing staff for your hard work and excellent reportage over the year. Onwards and upwards for Pink News in 2012. xxx

  2. Robert in S. Kensington 25 Dec 2011, 12:55pm

Merry Christmas to Pink News, long may you flourish!

  3. Merry Christmas to all Pink News staff and readers and my favourite story of 2011 was on the introduction of gay marriage for England and Wales. A very exciting development which will make sure we’re almost there in terms of legal equality! And I will be able to marry my partner, who ever he may be! :-)

  4. Merry christmas everybody at pink news!!!! May your Christmas be camp and merry :-) xx

  5. Thank you Pink News for allowing me to participate in these forums despite my views!

Also, I have been overall impressed with the integrity of your reporting and for bringing things to my attention that might not have otherwise happened.

    Merry Christmas to all :-)

  6. Merry Christmas to all the Pink News team and all the readers.

Looking forward to a 2012 where LGBT equality continues to grow and where we can celebrate diversity and many more debates on various issues …

  7. Benjamin Cohen 25 Dec 2011, 8:53pm

Thanks for the praise, it’s neither expected nor necessary but always welcome! 2011 has been a great year for us, we have 2 more top stories complications to come as well as our top LGBT tweeters list.

We look forward to reporting with the same level of seriousness and humour in the year to come.

From our distinctly mixed team, Merry Christmas and Happy Chunukah from all the people writing for us, selling ads, managing the website, doing the paper work and helping us out of legal scrapes!

Best wishes for the new year
    Ben

    1. God Bless you Ben, From a bisexual Christian who is also part Jewish and may you all ways publish the truth and inform the LGBT community with the truth and allow the community to speak the truth at Pinknews. We all must remember that freedom is not free and your hard work and the hard work of your staff deserve an award. Also we all must fight harder to stop the oppression against all LGBT people around the world. We need all need to be alert to the evil anti people who want to destroy us and fight back with everything we have and more if we are all to be free and not have to live in fear. I pray that 2012 will be the year that world leaders help free LGBT people from the chains and oppressors who enslave them around the world.

  8. They forgot to add the information about how Christians and Catholics are working with government agencies to covertly use psychological warfare and operations against LGBT people. They are doing this to locate all LGBT people and track them and “convert” them or else. If you don’t think this is true just wait and you will see for yourself. The evil anti gay people will deny and try to discredit that this information is true and they will even use informants or plants or moles and even spies in the LGBT community to do try to make this information appear false. They do not want you to know until it is too late. This also happened in Germany in the 1930′s and 40′s, for you who were too young to know what happened then. Proof it can and will happen. Be alert and be ready to fight back. They failed to be alert and fight back then and they dies, a lot of gay people were murdered back them. Talk to a Jewish person who survived the camps and they will tell you the truth about what was done.

    1. Dear Richard,

I work for a government agency and you better stop speaking out on these matters. We’re the government and we know everything – including everything about you. Bwahahahahaha.

      G Verment

  9. Merry Christmas everyone.

Thanks for the great stories and spirited debates.

  10. Christmas is probably the only time of the year – whether or not we believe – that we turn to the future with a bit of hope, regardless of the headlines.

    Merry Christmas then. :)

  11. Wouldn’t it be nice if the number 1 spot for 2012 went to gay marriage introduced throughout the UK? Hope that headline numer 1 spot doesn’t have to wait until 2015.

    1. Robert in S. Kensington 26 Dec 2011, 5:12pm

If only. To digress, I just heard Ireland is about to recognise same-sex civil marriage performed elsewhere. Puts the UK to shame.

      1. I always thought that Ireland did the same as the UK and downgraded SS marriages from abroad as Irish CPs…I think we still have more rights in the UK than Ireland as gay couples…Both Ireland and the UK need to bring in gay marriage and if not they need to at least stop downgrading foreign marriages and call them what they are..

        1. Robert in S. Kensington 27 Dec 2011, 12:34pm

True, the UK’s CPs do confer more rights than the Irish model, in fact all the rights of marriage but with a discrepancy in regard to pensions. I’m not sure how the UK will proceed now that Ireland is going to recognise same-sex legal marriages. I suspect the fact that the marriage equality consultation beginning in March will be a reason not to recognise them immediately, any excuse. Odd that France is not mulling marriage equality yet recognises same-sex marriages performed elsewhere, ditto Israel and a handful of others. I wonder how London will react if Scotland legalises it first, could well happen.

          1. The French press are actually suggesting that Sarkozy will go for a SS marriage policy in his elections!

            http://www.care2.com/causes/gay-marriage-in-germany-and-france.html

“Marriage equality could come sooner as the city state of Hamburg has introduced it into the German Senate and the SPD has introduced a bill into the Bundestag”

“Despite marriage equality losing heavily in the French parliament in July, rumors are swirling in France that President Nicholas Sarkozy will support marriage equality and gay families in next year’s election.

He is reported to have been inspired by the leadership of fellow conservative David Cameron, who told his party’s congress earlier this year:

I don’t support gay marriage despite being a Conservative. I support gay marriage because I’m a Conservative.”

  12. The number 3 story of the year was about the BBC inviting a homophobic extremist to comment on Elton John’s new baby. Pink News raised this story.

In 2012 I want to see Pink News apply the same standards they expect from the BBC to their own stories ie not employing racist extremists like Michael Lucas to write stories about the Arab Spring, without first identifying him as a racist extremist.

    1. Arab Spring? I see that you are still wearing your leftard blinkers. No-one but naive optimists and ideologues believed that what was coming to north africa and the middle east (areas invaded by Arabs, incidentally) was anything other than sharia law. Tunisia is getting sharia, Libya is getting Sharia, Egypt is getting sharia. What does that mean? Burkas, beheadings, and old men marrying girls younger than 11 (like in Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, Iran, Malaysia, Yemen, etc.)
The Pew research published in Jan 2011 (several months before your “Arab Spring” showed that 70% of Egyptians backed islamic fundamentalism). Michael Lucas has forgotten more than you’ll ever know.

      1. As you’re no doubt too stupid or biased to find this information yourself: http://pewresearch.org/pubs/1874/egypt-protests-democracy-islam-influence-politics-islamic-extremism

  13. GingerlyColors 26 Dec 2011, 2:08pm

I discovered Pink News during 2011 and found it informative and entertaining. I enjoy posting comments in the Readers’ column and over the past few months I have been called various things by fellow correspondents and been praised for my views.
I wish everybody to enjoy the remainder of the Christmas holiday and look forward to 2012 with our heads held high and hope for a better world for everybody, gay and straight.

    1. @GingerlyColors

I also discovered PN in 2011 (Feb approx) and have found it an enjoyable and entertaining read – if sometimes frustrating in some of the commentary on here (those who choose to troll and be offensive!).

I have enjoyed most of your comments, and agreed with many of them!

Pink News is a great site – partly because of some great journalism (some particular pieces were outstanding) and partly because of informed and honest robust debate. Lets enjoy the end of 2011 and look forward to 2012 with strong hopes for a more equal, honest and inclusive 2012 for all – regardless of difference.

      1. I discovered Pink News a few years ago but only recently engaged in the message boards and I have enjoyed debating with many people including you Stu, hopefully there will be some decent stories in 2012 :-) Happy New Year.

  14. Jock S. Trap 3 Jan 2012, 11:59am

Thank you PinkNews a great year of reporting.
