2:46 PM — The killer of Sonia Burgess, a trans human rights lawyer who was pushed to her death under a Tube train in London last year, has been convicted of manslaughter. Senthooran Kanagasingham, 35, of Cricklewood, admitted manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility at the Old Bailey.

1:05 PM — American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert has reportedly been arrested outside a gay bar in Helsinki after a violent fight with his boyfriend. Lambert, 29, is said to have fought with Sauli Koskinen, a Finnish reality TV star, outside a bar called Don’t Tell Momma.

12:14 PM — Nigeria's health minister has warned that bisexual men pose a "challenge" to efforts to tackle the spread of HIV in the country, as the prevalence of HIV among gay and bisexual men in the country was found to have risen. Onyebuchi Chukwu, launching the 2010 Integrated Biological and Behavioural Surveillance in Abuja, said that HIV prevalence among men who have sex with men has risen to 17.2%, up from 13.5% in 2007.

11:14 AM — The Australian Psychological Society has officially given its support to full marriage equality for gay couples, adding the voice of its 20,000 members to the debate. The group's board approved an endorsement of the American Psychological Association's resolution this summer, which gave its unequivocal support to the introduction of equal marriage rights for gay couples on behalf of its 100,000 professional members.
