I guess this makes sense; having two people who mutually love and support one another in a generally monogamous environment is likely to improve health. Not exactly a quantum leap in understanding though worthy of comment (IMHO!).

      RTFA.

The health benefit is observed whether or not one is in a relationship. It does make sense, as it means there is one less social inequality that the gay person has to live with – “knowing you can never marry and knowing you can marry if you want to” makes a difference.

Perhaps I was unclear, my point was one of nurturing a healthy environment in the gay community, almost “by example” but not exactly: Instead of having a community where the assumption is promiscuity rules, young gay guys can see examples of long term couples, which is of benefit to everyone.

        “RTFA”, jeeez what a jerk.

Not that there’s anything wrong with one night stands per say, just when that becomes your life It’s not exactly healthy and might be a problem, not just from a sexual health point of view but also a psychological one. More and more young gay guys seem to be finding boyfriends rather than randoms these days which is a good sign.

          1. Cheers for the judgements, I’m sure we don’t get enough of them in here.

  2. generaly the better your mental health the better your physical health will be, i would suspect it may be that sorta thing however i am not a doctor nor am i a scientist so ill leave the making of conclusions to them ^_^

  3. Studies like this should make it easier to get marriage equality legislation through in countries where it still has not been enacted.

A worthy piece of research however I get the sense of yet again they are stating the bleedin obvious but I realise some need to see it for themselves with regards to less tolerant people.

It stands to reason that when all have equality all should be in the same bracket of fairness and that’ll show in health too.

    1. i guess by doing somthing that to most should be obvious such stuff can be pointed to to prove it mabie? least thats teh way i see it

Oh indeed. It’s a good thing at the end of the day. Show the positive and I’d like to think in some it’ll make a difference. We do all derserve to be treated equally after all.

    2. I’m sure someone somewhere will publish a study twisting statistics to prove how marriage equality damages the health of straight women, or something similar. They won’t allow such simple good news to exist. It’s too far against their agenda.

      1. Jock S. Trap 16 Dec 2011, 3:42pm

Oh quite. Leats not forget we already have US Presidential Hopeful Rick Santorum saying that ‘dem bad ol Gays gettin hitched’ is the reason why marriage in straight people has dropped. Proof those idiots will find anything to back up their claims even if they’re completely false.

  5. This is good news since I saw the news that Christians are working with government agencies to use psychological warfare to try and get rid of LGBT people “quietly” with out a shot being fired. You know the ex gay Christian and psychiatry thing to make gays “straight”. These Christians and psychiatrist are the insane ones who are doing the most harm to LGBT people and they are doing it in a very secret way or so they think. We need to organize to stop these mad men from destroying more gays, like the ones who kill themselves because of these people who push the idea that being gay is bad or a sin and the gay children and adults kill themselves. Take a recent gay man who was outed on Adam 4 Adam which is secret anti gay Christians site where they discover who is gay and try to stop them or they use psychological operations on them to mess them up and kill themselves like this one man who killed himself recently when he was outed on A4a. There are other evil sites like this on the web.
