I still think Amber’s best film is ‘All the Boys Love Mandy Lane’, and knowing she’s had this experience adds an extra depth to the particular feminist punch of that film. It’s a story about outsiders and the weight of conventional narratives, and she gives a terrific performance, especially considering how young she was at the time.

The acting profession is full of gays. 10 minutes spent in a theatre during the interval is like spending a fortnight in Sitges- GAY GAY GAY.

    1. Stars – as in young leads – seldom are though, even on the London stage, and in Hollywood it just won’t happen because the people who put up the money won’t risk it. So gay people end up being support staff or “character” actors.

You think being gay or lesbian on Hollywood is tough, try being transsexual and getting by!
