A UK theatre company is seeking submissions of short plays about transgender issues to be performed in Manchester next year, and says no previous script-writing experience is necessary.

Laced Banana produces scripts from or about under-represented communities, and is seeking new writers through its May Contain NUTS (New Undiscovered Theatre Shorts) programme.

Previous months have focused on mental health issues and the communities affected by HIV.

The charity is inviting short scripts of between 2 and 15 pages, for a production to be held on 23 February 2012 as part of LGBT History Month, at a venue in Manchester City Centre.

They stress no previous script-writing experience is necessary but ask that set design is minimal and the piece has not been performed before.

Submissions guidelines can be found on the Laced Banana website, and must be made before 23 January next year.
