It’s time that LGBT people were able to have their loving relationships properly recognised by the law, religion and society. I urge Scotland to lift the ban on LGBT marriages.

  2. So what happens next after the friday deadline?

The Scottish Govt will analyse the consultation responses, and publish a report on them, and around that time should announce what they are going to do. If they decide they are sticking to their original intention to legislation for same-sex marriage, they will then draft a bill and consult again on the draft bill, around this time next year.

Then the bill could be passed through the Scottish Parliament during 2013 – that takes quite a few months.

  3. The Scotsman – one of Scotland’s leading newspapers is running a poll for and against gay marriage in Scotland.

    Currently it is:

    16373 (64%) in FAVOUR
    8950 (35%) AGAINST

  4. Do you have to be scottish to give your view?

    1. No- anyone can give their view.

Since I’m of Scottish descent, I thought I’d try and the site accepted my submission.

Interesting. If the Scottish Parliament legalises gay marriage in Scotland while gays still have to make do with Civil Partnerships in the rest to the UK could a same-sex English couple elope to Gretna Green and get married legally?

    1. Great for tourism…

Just did my response from Australia…perhpas you guys can start writing to our PM Gillard too and get her to change her mind…

  6. I’ve been putting this off but Did it!
And tried to keep my submission as concise, elegant and to the point of each question as I could manage.
I don’t want to bore anyone by making it so long and convoluted that it won’t get read.
