  1. It seems deeply wrong to even use the word “clinic” for a torture facility such as this.

  3. Scary. If something like that was done to me because of my transgenderism, for example, I would just kill myself, I wouldn’t be able to live with memories of torture. It reminds me of an episode of Cold Case (not a fan of the series, but this episode had an impact on me) called “Boy Crazy” about a non-homosexual tomboy girl during the 60s who is sent to a mental institution for acting as a boy and ends up asking for her male friend who she liked to kill her (sorry about the spoiler). I am a psychology college student but I can’t trust psychiatry. Its objective is less about understanding the human mind and more about controlling the society.

  4. Who on earth runs these places? It wouldn’t perchance be the Catholic Church?

  5. I signed the petition.

      As did I.

While I fully support the sentiments of the petition, I am certainly not signing up to a completely open ended agreement on how they may use my personal details:

“We reserve the right to modify this Agreement at any time, and without prior notice, by posting amended terms on this website. Your continued use of the Change.org service indicates your acceptance of the amended User Agreement.”

Merely signing up leaves you agreeing to … anything at all.

Does anyone know of a responsible organisation running a similar petition – or can anyone start one?

        1. I trust Change.org, and I’ve been signing their petitions for some time.

Ecuador has already closed down quite a few of these torture chambers. With the new evidence coming forward to the authorities I am confident more closures and charges are in the cards. Ecuador is a country that is really progressing as far a LGBT rights are concerned – constitutional protection, okay in the military and gender identity protection. Equal marriage is still banned (though civil unions are available) but I read recently there is talk of re-opening the debate with the aim to legalising it and adoption by gays as well.

Here’s hoping they continue progressing and shut these horror “clinics” down.

  7. Read here about how it is the Christians and Psychiatrist who are doing this to LGBT people. These Christians and Psychiatrist need to be arrested and locked up for the damage they are doing and have done. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conversion_therapy
