  1. All it proves is that NOM doesn’t have enough supporters to make a crowd and is in fact made up of a few narrow-minded bigots who have a disproportionately large voice.

  2. Surprised they didn’t use the standard trick of rubberstamping it on photoshop! I love the smell of desperation in the morning…

  3. So Brian Brown used copyrighted photos and then lied about their in the public domain.

Some sharp cookie spotted the photo for what it is.

There’s something disturbing about NOM’s tactics.

    1. Quite. NOM’s “values” apparently include theft and lying. Both of which I believe are covered in the Ten Commandments (unlike homosexuality).

The dishonesty of the anti-gay industry never stops.

  5. I’m pretty sure that there is something in their odious Buy-bull about not bearing false witness. NOM are just lying scum and they take money from actual legitimate charitable causes for people who actually need assistance by pandering to a mob of brown shirt wearing idiots.

They are supposedly funded by the catholic and Mormon churches, but no one knows for sure as they illegally refuse to disclose the sources of their funds despite court orders.

      1. was the second group of pixie slaves spelt right

They used a stock photo – it’s hardly news. There are better arguments against the group than that they use stock photos in their literature.

    1. It was not a ”stock photo”. A stock photo is a generic photo that can be used to more or less accurately depict what is being written about. Here there is no connection – an Obama rally is definitely not a NOM related event. So they misrepresented a public event as their own rally – pretty serious, and a strong basis for being sceptical about their tactics.

    2. There’s a world of difference between “stock photo” and “blatant propaganda”. If I lead a fringe group comprising 15 members and portrayed them in advertising by cutting and pasting an image from the crowd at a “Live aid” concert I would be misrepresenting my movement, and providing a misleading appeal to popularity. Tin pot dictators utilise that old chestnut quite a bit.

  7. The photo might not be made up of NOM supporters, but, in fact, there are much more NOM supporters than it is reflected on the photo. Every common sense person supports NOM. As simple as that.

Yet another lie. Virtually no one turned up for their national bus tour rallies, as has been documented thoroughly on another website with real photographic evidence.

    2. For a start it’s “many more”, since supporters are discrete entities, “are reflected”, since you’re attempting to refer to a plural, and the phrase is “person of common sense” or “person with common sense”. Other than that you have made a mediocre-to-adequate attempt at English spelling and grammar.

I decided to comment on that because the content and ethical probity of your post fails to reach even those heady heights, and I felt it would only be charitable to address the aspect of your comment with the highest level of achievement. I’m a generous fellow at heart. Even if you’re not…

    3. Ah, good old ‘common sense’….The Earth is flat, witches fly on broomsticks, Jews eat Christian babies, blacks are lazy and stupid compared to whites….’Common sense’ = ‘commonly believed garbage.’

  8. No ‘homosexual activists’ are ‘redefining’ marriage over the heads of anyone. Putting same sex marriage on the statute books is subject to the electorate voting to change the law and is done on the will of the majority via their elected representatives. If gays can persuade people through the use of facts and evidence that they should vote for equal rights then that’s democracy in action. That’s not hard to do when the reasons for keeping same sex marriage illegal are as flimsy and discredited as they are.

If Brian Brown has to resort to stealing and misrepresentation to prop up his failed arguments then he should get out of the game and admit he’s a loser. thgere are plenty of other bandwagons he can jump on if he wants to discriminate against people in the name of Jesus.

    1. A vote on whether or not certain people should be considered equal is not democratic – quite the contrary, it is undemocratic. Our modern idea of democracy is based on the idea of equality. The problem with allowing the majority to take a vote on whether a smaller (probably less popular) social group should denied equality in the law is that the flimsiness of evidence doesn’t matter when you have bigotry and religion (often two sides of the same coin) in the mix. This was demonstrated in the US where the Christian bigots have mobilised to spread disinformation and repeat the same old appeals to emotion and tradition. The paucity of their argument did nothing to dissuade voters from taking away the rights of gay people in California to marry. A mass vote cannot be used to vote away the rights and equal treatment of citizens.

  9. Bigoted people misrepresenting the facts to support their lies? Surely not!

  10. Staircase2 3 Nov 2011, 12:06am

    Well spotted! Good on yer!

How Low, Will You Bigots go???
You hit the gutter of Shame, long ago, your actions have made the gutter your home, and your hate filled actions will keep you there.

  12. Bigots. This article did read like a storyline from Southpark – expect the vicious games to garner attention :|

  13. So lying and deception are morally parallel to open campaigning for a change in the law?
Oh, the sound of scraping barrels!
Reminds me of a friend who was briefly and unpleasantly involved in Opus Dei. He told the local leadership that he objected to lying and manipulation in the cause of promoting their ultramontane Catholicism. He was blandly told that he shouldn’t object to anything that ‘worked’…..
    Good on Good As You!

It’s great to see such a horrid organisation being caught out and exposed like this. Nice try NoM, but this time your lies have cost you.

On another note (reading further down the article) it reads “…yet they can redefine marriage — the most important social institution of society…”

Thier right, Marriage is important. So why not let us have it? The only people who are “redefining” marriage for same sex couples are people like NoM!!

If NOM can redefine honesty, sure I’ll help redefine marriage as the union of two people.

Cracks me up that Kim Kardashian’s latest BIG MONEY blunder into matrimony is the type of relationship NOM protects.

  16. David Myers 4 Nov 2011, 7:23am

This is the height of hypocrisy and highly symbolic of NOM’s and the tea party’s attitute toward truth in and of itself. They both practice the “big lie” technique and believe in the principles first stated by Adolf Hitler’s propaganda minister, Joseph Goebbels who infamously stated “repeat a lie often enough and it becomes the truth” and ” the bigger the lie, the more they’ll believe it”. They couldn’t have highlighted their own duplicity in an any clearer fashion than this. This is Karma in action. I love it! ;-)
