    11:45 AM — The Archbishop of Glasgow, Mario Conti, has written to all Scottish parishes to urge them to oppose plans to give gay couples the right to marry. He said that churches would "actively campaign" to block marriage rights for gay people and warned that the move would create "larger divisions" in society.

    12:05 PM — David Cameron has appointed Guardian leader writer Julian Glover as his chief speechwriter. Mr Glover, who is the civil partner of Times writer Matthew Parris, will replace Ameet Gill, who has become Number 10's new head of strategic comms.

    11:28 AM — The internet domain name gay.xxx has been sold for half a million dollars. Although the .xxx extension is not yet open for public registration, the gay.xxx address was bought by Corbin Fisher, one of the world’s biggest gay porn producers.

    10:49 AM — A Manchester man has been jailed for six and a half months for setting his dog on a woman in a homophobic attack. Jason Boswell, of Dean Road, Gorton, set his Japanese Akita on Karen Wilson in an unprovoked attack while she and another woman were cycling on the Fallowfield Loop last July.

    4:40 PM — Gay rights campaigners in South Africa say a fifth gay murder in Johannesburg suggests there may be a homophobic killer at large. In the last year, there have been four cases in which gay men were found dead in similar circumstances - bound and strangled in their homes with no sign of a break-in.

    3:55 PM — A Ugandan LGBT campaigner says that her gay bar was forcibly shut down. Jacqueline Kasha said that her bar Sapphos Island, in Kampala, was padlocked shut on Sunday by the landlord.

    9:50 AM — Two transgender men in Australia have won the right to be legally recognised as men without undergoing sex reassignment surgery. The pair, who have not been named, have had their breasts removed and some hormone therapy, although they still have some female sexual organs.
