Gay man jailed for homophobic attack 23
11:11 AM — A gay man has been jailed for breaking another gay man's jaw in two places in a homophobic attack. Maidstone crown court heard that Robert Jackson's attack was motivated by homophobia, despite being gay himself.
Star Trek actor Zachary Quinto comes out as gay 59
9:28 AM — Zachary Quinto, the star of Heroes and 2009's Star Trek, has revealed he is gay. The 34-year-old has refused to discuss his sexuality until now, although he joined other celebrities in making an 'It Gets Better' video.

New Zealand Labour will allow gay couples to adopt 21
7:21 PM — New Zealand's Labour Party says it will push for gay couples to be allowed to adopt. It will modernise the law "to ensure the widest pool of suitable adults is lawfully available to provide care to children in need".
North Wales police to display rainbow flag in stations 41
4:43 PM — North Wales police are to display rainbow flag stickers in stations to encourage gay people to report homophobic crime. Diversity leaders at the force believe the stickers will reassure gay people that they will be treated sensitively and respectfully.
First US military gay convention meets this weekend 15
4:19 PM — The first convention for gay military personnel is meeting in Las Vegas this weekend. The OutServe Leadership Summit, which began yesterday, is the largest gathering of openly gay troops since Don't Ask, Don't Tell was repealed last month.

3:10 PM — The US senate has confirmed a lesbian to serve as a US federal judge in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York. Alison Nathan is the second of four openly gay people appointed by President Obama to be confirmed.

US Supreme Court refuses to hear gay parents’ appeal 23
4:22 PM — The US Supreme Court has refused to hear the case of a gay couple who wanted both their names on the birth certificate of a boy they adopted. Oren Adar and Mickey Smith, of New Orleans, adopted the Louisiana-born boy in 2006 in New York.
Tory MEP Roger Helmer quits 50
3:09 PM — Conservative MEP Roger Helmer, who has been accused of homophobia, has resigned. Mr Helmer, who last year angered gay campaigners with a tweet about 'gay cure' therapy, said there are "far too many" areas of Conservative policy he can no longer agree with.

10:47 AM — Oklahoma Republican Sally Kern says she fears gay rights campaigners may kill her over her homophobic views. The politician, who claims that homosexuality has killed more people in the US than terrorism, said she has felt "physical fear" when gay people send her angry emails.

Survey: Half of gay men out at work 25
4:20 PM — Over half of gay men have come out at work, a survey says. According to a Gaydar.co.uk poll of more than 5,000 users, 56 per cent are out to their employer and 82 per cent are out to friends.
