Minimum 12 years, for murder? Surely it should be a minimum of 25 years?
Still relying on the old “he made advances to me” defence which used to work in the fifties. Apparently that was considered a reason to justify murder in the good old days.

It does say minimum of 12 years by which time this lad will be well and truly in the sytem and unlikely to get out of it for the rest of his life.

I personally feel that this sentance is too soft. 12 years for a hate crime murder he plead not guilty to does not seem fair to me. I am not usually in fabvour on harsh sentances. But i would say that in this particular case i think it would have been more appropriate for 16-18 year minimum sentance.
At least 12 years of being forced to share a shower with loads of naked men? He should stay until he is the same age as the man he murdered. Maybe his attitude would have improved by then.
Perhaps the judge was a shrewd person who could tell that this young man would be under watch for the rest of his life…

Looks to me like this guy and Steven Russell’s sentances got mixed up somhow.
This person should only ever be freed when he’s no long is a threat to society… probably never me thinks.
